Recently, we have found out my horse has a deformed bone in his hock (the tarsus). We had the surgeon out today and he is really pleased with his progress and we are aiming to get him to pony club camp in 8 weeks. Although camp will be really beneficial for him and could help us alot, my surgeon is worried that we will throw away all of our progress, if it is too demanding and also the ground gets very hard.
We have decided to send him to rehab, which will practically fix him before camp (so also need the time to do that)
At camp, we do a bit of everything everyday and is a tiering week overall, although there is a lot of standing around and they are kept in small stables all the time (which causes him to become very stiff).
I really want to get him right this time before i jump him ect, but camp always really helps him and is so fun for me too, so i am not sure what to do.
My mum is happy for me to find another horse to take, although i wouldn't want to unless i could learn something from it and teach the horse a lot (eg not been there done that ponies)
The camp meeting, the time we need to decide who i am going on, is 20th of june so all suggestions considered!
What would you do?
