5 miles to a xc course, do about an hour of xc then hack back?!

Pony is reasonably fit, but am I crackers? Lack of transport is driving me insane!

Yes. We once hacked 7 miles to a pony club East egg hunt. This was with 3 mounted children - one of whom was on a 36" Shetland

Yes, that is a relatively short hack for us with a bit of excitement in the middle.

I hack that far to do a ODE means I only have to warm up for about 30 minutes for the dressage!

I have often done just under 4 miles to a farm ride, done 7 miles and hacked home. I always make sure we have done several 2hr plus rides before I do it and I do build in a break before we head home.

Yeah definately, I once hacked 10 miles to do a 10 mile fun ride and had planned to hack the 10 miles back, sadly lost a shoe and only noticed at the end and a lovely local gave me a lift home, as long as your horse is fit enough i dont see a reason why not, its not a crazy distance, should also add though I tend to do crazy long hacks on a regular basis, have been known to hack 20 miles round trip just to go to the beach

Yes definitely. I often hack to the one place local as tends to mean he's more settled when I get there.

Yes but I would try and drop off a bucket and water and a drink for myself to have before heading home.
