Ever bought a saddle off of ebay then got it fitted by a saddler, im just checking my options before i get a new saddle for my horse my instructor suggested this as you can get good quality ones from the net.

I just wanted to no peoples experiences?
 
ive bought a decent show saddle, and a friend just got a wintec. ive seen some good brands on there but havent dared buy anything pricey in case it doesnt arrive, although if i paid by credit card id probably be ok.
 
I have! You obviously need a rough idea of fit and be prepared to sell it on if its wrong. I bought one that I had to resell but got £20 more for it. The next one was fine. I expected the saddler to roll her eyes when I said I'd got it off ebay but she was quite happy to tweak the stuffing for me.
 
I bought a Stubben dressage saddle from ebay. I know I need an 18 inch saddle and I know my Mare needs a medium fitting. The saddle came from Germany and I paid £220 for it, plus £20 P&P. It was in very good condition and I was confident that if it did not fit I would at least get my money back. It was slightly too wide for her, but I got a saddler to modify it. I have had it a couple of years now and have spent £80 on a recent complete re-flock as the flocking was a little hard for my liking.

If I had bought the saddle in a shop it would have been in the region of £4-500. My saddler is always amazed it was so cheap and says it was a real bargain.
 
I bought a lovely Ideal International Event saddle, I already had one & wanted another, its in lovely in lovely condition, It might be an idea to have a saddler out to fit a saddle so you know what you want make & size ect? then just keep an eye out for one on e bay
 
I have, brought my pessoa from Ebay...as long as you know roughly the size you want i.e. 17/5, MW etc then you should be in with a good chance. Did you ask the saddler what size would be best?
 
yeah we think along the lines of 17.5 mw, i just want to weigh all options up as if i go along the brand new route from him its going to be around 800, where as instructor said she got some of her dressage saddles from ebay for around 450 and they were in good nik, i just worry!!!!
