Would you keep horses in a barn with hundreds of intensively reared pigs???

My horse was stabled next to pigs (2) for four years and they didn't bother him in the slightest so wouldn't have a problem with the concept. But I am terrified of the things, hate them with a passion and you wouldn't get me any closer than separated by a mains electric fence.
And this is after spending 4 weeks looking after 3 (so I know they are clever....always plotting ) Evil!!! (same for alpacas)

Who says they are intensive pigs? Even pigs born outside and free range are fattened indoors on straw.

I haven't heard of any disease that could pass from pig to horse, but stand to be corrected about that. I wondered why horses have an instictive dislike of pigs, but the fact that they might get eaten by them would be a pointer!

My horses are voluntarily sharing with pigs. They have access to a big barn which has been invaded by six rather charming pigs that have come in from the Forest. The horses could refuse to go in the barn or they could chase the pigs out but they don't The pigs all huddle up in once corner and the horses eat their hay around them. I'm rather pleased as it means I haven't got to worry about meeting pigs out on the Forest in the future.

Ha! We've had 10 forest piglets living 'wild' on our livery yard for the last couple of weeks and although it has caused a few moments as the pigs roam and appear out of some odd places, most horses got used to them very quickly. Luckily the farmer collected them a couple of days ago so we are now pig free!
