Would you leave your horse wet?

I schooled and jumped my lad earlier, finished at just gone 7pm. He was rather sweaty, hosed him off and put a cooler on him while he had dinner. Took it off and left him with sun on his back at 7.30pm.
He was still really wet, sun went down at about 8/8.30pm. It's still 18 degrees now.
Would anyone have done anything different?

I hose down, scrape off excess and turn straight out, find they will always roll some of the wet out.

Not unless it was a particularly thin skinned horse. If it rained and your horse got caught out in a shower you wouldn't rush up to the yard in a panic. D has to be washed off after every ride at the moment because she's a hairy yeti and it doesn't worry me that she's out in the field a bit damp now.

he is an arab, so thin skinned, but it was so warm still i thought he'd be ok, just thought i'd run it past you lot as i love hearing all the different opinions, and often learn lots

I would and do the same, except I don't put a cooler on as mine live out (no stable access) and I don't fancy them rolling in my coolers.

I always try to dry him off and let him cool down and relax before I feed him aswell. I try to leave it atleast 20 mins before I feed after riding. However if i'm in a rush horse will cope. However I do get a bit picky about things lol

PnO it was about 20mins before i fed, as it took that long to hose n scrape. He was nice and relaxed as i always walk him round after a session in the school. I too always try to leave it a while before feeding - i know some people who really obsess over this and wont feed for an hour

i would have done exactly the same!! it's june, it's warm, and the horse probably really enjoyed it!! mine has a good roll after his after work rinse, and really really loves it!!

Honeypots - your tb looks very lovely but I'm seriously loving your Jack!!!

For the OP I would have done as you did. In fact I did on Saturday....
