I would love to browse through the car sales web site to find a car I like, then I could send the following message :

Hi !! :-)
I've been browsing through a car sales websites and came across your advert for your fabulous 4 x 4 !
It looks so clean, low mileage and luxurious in fact every thing I'm looking for !!!
However I'm not in a position to buy at the moment but wondered if you would consider loaning it to me long term :-)
I'm a very careful and experienced driver and you are welcome to come at see it at any time - I do live several hundred miles from you but if you would like to deliver it to me you could see for yourself just how lovely my area is and where your car would be.
Sorry to be cheeky but if you don't ask you don't know if it would be a possibility :-) xxxx

Thanks for letting me get that off my chest.

Not quite the same but a tradesman recently bought a trailer from us and managed to lock his keys inside his van. No way of getting to them that day, no locksmith would come out for an affordable fee and the spare keys were at a music gig for the weekend! So we gave him our spare van for the weekend, he paid the insurance which was about £14 and brought it back on the Monday with beer and wine as a thank you! Little van had a weekend break in north Devon, maybe watching the surfing! 🤣

At least you had his van as hostage to ensure your own ones return 😂

Also could you pay the insurance on the car for me? And I'd like it to come with all accessories - rain cover, new tyres, spare brakes etc.
And when I want to stop driving it can you come and collect it straight away and fix all the damage I have done to it? Thanx hun x

I agree - there are so many adverts asked for loans of ‘confidence building’ horses with an incredible list of wants, basically looking for unicorns.
Do they ever get offered a horse, are we the stupid ones for actually paying money for horses??

Hi, I see you have lots of lovely small cars and do lots of fun things with them. My kids are desperate to learn to drive and would love the opportunity to have one. Do you think you could lend us one with all of its accessories or do you know of someone who could? It would mean the world to the kids and it would be very well loved, looked after and polished everyday.

'Hi, I have never actually driven a car before, nor had any lessons. But i can see the car is a chunky people carrier type- not a sports car. I know it can still reach high speeds but it's not as flashy therefore im sure it would be just perfect for me to learn to drive in ( without any help). ......

( coming from an owner of a cob , that doesnt know its a cob - and was searching for a loaner to help exercise her ....)

p.s ... I've given up

"Oooh, a horse. I'd love to learn to ride. How do I learn?"
"Go get lessons."
"Your horse looks very quiet. Can you teach me? "

Recent exchange with a middle aged man in my local village while I was sitting on my horse chatting to a friend in the village:oops:.

Whenever anyone asks me this I say politely - 'I'm a totally useless teacher, I'd be no good to you. And my horse sometimes bolts. There's a riding school in X village, they'd do a much better job! Do you want their number?'. Exit, pursued by a bear, as though my poor confused horse has decided to bolt...

I had someone tell me I could earn a packet teaching people to ride on my horses. Ah yes, it's a well-known fact that most billionaires earnt their fortune teaching people to ride from their rented yard.

Or alternatively, ‘I love your very expensive car that you have worked hard on and improved the value of. Unfortunately I don’t have a very big budget, as I spent a lot on my previous car which sadly no longer runs. £20,000 is just unattainable for me, but I love these cars and would look after it adoringly. Would you sell it to me for £2000?’

Adapted from a recent post on the Facebook posts thread;

‘Tentatively putting the feelers out for a LOAN of a Lamborghini who perhaps wants to step away from being driven hard to a quieter life. My 14yo daughter is used to accessorising cars and her passion is drift driving. I would like her to experience the knowledge and confidence from a Lamborghini to further her driving, and hopefully relight her fire for track racing should she choose this path, if not, to give her a good experience in the drift world!

2018-2020 Lamborghinis only as we can’t cater for older or newer. Must be excellent to drift, as drifting is her passion, must also be good on the track, not remotely unpredictable to drive and up to date with all servicing. Must also be safe for her to drive alone or with passengers - basically a unicorn!

She has a top regular drift instructor who comes to our home, and she attends regular track days. Big brother is also on hand to help out! We have a nice smooth drive and garaging in beautiful surroundings’.

It’s a good home for your Lamborghini!

I think I saw the same post as you..! BD Forum?

Here in France it is the vehicle that is insured, not the driver, this means we don't have to let insurance companies know if we loan our car out. So, if I wanted, I could drive up to the nearest airport, check my friend's licences are still valid when they arrive and then they could drive off to anywhere in Europe with me making my own way home!
The downside of such a system is that premiums are high especially for 49c.c scooters as these are often loaned out to youngsters by older owners.

I saw it on the Eventing Uk one! It’s been copied onto the ‘ridiculous posts you see on Facebook’ thread on here where I abc others mercilessly ripped the p*** out of it. Unless they have some rich and very kind friends I think they’ll be posting again in a few weeks with ‘still looking for our free Lamborghini, surely we aren’t asking for the impossible, nothing suitable yet as we have rejected incredibly kind offers of lotus elans as too small and fantastic track cars that have been off the track for a while’.
