Would you let someone with a 'hot seat' ride your horse?

I agree. She doesn't sound like she has a hot seat she sounds like a plank.

I would absolutely let someone with a hot seat ride mine. Both of mine are lazy pigs, would do them good!

But someone who lets them jog? Not so much. I hate horses which jog!

This lady sounds a nightmare and I wouldn't want her anywhere near my horse.

I have a similar problem but it is my YO who keeps offering my horse out to people for rides. She has recently had a friend arrive at the yard (her friend - not mine) who has a youngster not broken yet. I was gobsmacked yesterday when she turned to new livery (in front of me) and said oh you can borrow Cob (my horse) and then we can ride together. She didn't even ask me first. Very quickly I said "sorry, but I don't want people I don't know riding my horse". They were both stunned that I had said no - and I then had a nasty message from YO later on Facebook. I went down to the yard later that night and removed all my tack - so they can't just take my boy out for a ride without me knowing.

God Liz if I was at a yard where people took my horse out without my permission I would pack my bags and leave!!

You are all right that she isn't technically 'hot seated' I just didnt know how else to describe her, she doesnt kick lots or use a whip on them, they just seem to go super fast when she gets on.

Ha yes. I am desperately trying to find a new yard to move to. Tempted to bring my horse home and keep him in the garden - at least I would know what he was doing then. And I think after my last rant at the YO, she won't be rushing to offer him out to her friends :(

Sounds like a pain! Just keep telling her no, your horse your rules.
Ive had a similar problem with a novice who thinks she is gods gift to horses! Always pestering to ride my horse, Ive said no not out of spite or mean ness but because she does completely irresponsible things like cantering on roads!!!

I agree with others that dont dont sound like a 'hot seat', I have an electric arse and should I choose I can wake up the laziest of horses with it, sometimes its great and others its a right PITA.

I would never however get on someone elses horse and wind it up deliberately, that just leads to accidents and is downright stupid.

Stick to your guns and just tell her no. All she is doing with the smarmy remarks is making herself out to be an ass. I would NEVER ask someone to take a horse I wasnt riding to a show just because mine was ill.

No, I never go for horses that get on with that sort of rider.

This ^

Personally I think of hot seat as someone who has a very strong seat and the horse is sharper for it. What you've described is simply an idiot. She said she pushed him on.

My definitions could be completely wrong though :D

Sounds a nightmare I'm dismayed by her asking to borrow so much should be a really good mate or a rider you admire that can bring something to your horse.

Bet her horse is actually glad it has an abcess:rolleyes:

You're absolutely right not to let her on your horse in my opinion! She sounds like a bit of a loon to be honest and I find it utterly shocking that she would take a horse for a calm canter and then gallop it about like that. The horse's owner showed good will and was extremely generous in offering up her own horse to give the lady a nice experience... what a shame such advantage was taken.

I'd say keep her away from yours for sure. Hope you get on well with the competition! :)
