Yes she is a pretty little thing isn't she
smile.gif
. She was backed very late in life and is quite a stressy mare but she has come on a long way since I bought her and I'm pleased with her.

i would say she is looking pretty good. both pics are different in the first one she is correctly folding from hips but isnt givin with her hands and in the second one she is folding from the waist but she is giving more with her hands also her lower leg is sliding back a little maybe want to keep an eye on that to make sure it doesnt develop into a bad habit. but for 11 i would say she is doing fantastic well done her u must be proud of her horse is gorgeous btw.

Gosh isn't she looking so grown up, I was shocked when you said she was 11, I still think of her as around 7 from when you joined!

She looks great BTW!

Well, in the first pic, she appears to be sticking the 'V's up with her fingers, and in the second pic, the strap of her top has fallen over her shoulder...

Apart from that, she looks okay.

looking gd. if anythig she seems to be over jumping i.e your daughter is jumping a bigger fence than the horse you would need to watch you are not getting in front of the horse or youmay come unstuck if horse stops!!!

They both are looking rather good!

Your daughter has a very good position and lovely light hands in both pictures.
The 2nd picture prehaps shows her a little over bending if we are going to find any critisism.

Beautiful Horse, she looks like she has agood pop in her ! and your daughter looks really good especially for only being 11 yo, I know 11yo s who are still getting led round on a lead rein !

Thank you for your comments everyone; some of them did make me chuckle out loud!

The reason I asked was, I don't know if you saw the photos I posted a year ago when my daughter first got the big palomino horse. I was looking through my photos and found one of her after we had had him for a few days and I was like OMG!!

I remember her not being too tidy and with arms sticking out all over the place and now a year on, I think she has started to look pretty proficient at jumping. She has only been jumping decent sized jumps since last year and I am pretty pleased with how she has improved over the past year and a bit.

Daughter has just turned 12 last month, but she was only 11 when these pictures were taken a few months ago.

I found it interesting that giving her this horse to ride; she is a very tricky mare to ride and goes like a bomb on steroids; has really helped her seat and shape going over her jumps.

I could post some photos on this thread of her last year if anyone is interested in seeing the difference.

Sorry, had to upload them as they weren't on my photo account.

This first photo was taken not long after I bought this horse. He had been a western horse and, as far as I am aware, had never been ridden English, let alone jumped. Daughter shattered her humerus when she was little and her arm was always a bit wonky thereafter. I admit to giggling at her arms, so feel free to do the same, bless her.

Anyhow, here they are just a few days after I bought the horse. *sniggers* - those arms!!

Anyhow, daughter and him persevered, and in the summer of last year, they went to a few shows and actually did rather well, albeit over little jumps.

Shes looking super tia xx

I would just tell her not to come out of the saddle too much , but a HUGE improvement .

I'm sure others have heard me say about my little tip I have given to kids at the riding school , Is pretent there is a pole going right long the top of the upright and she has to duck underneath it . I swear it does help
grin.gif

Shes folding nicely though.

Looking super and a lovely little horse x

Thank you for your comments everyone.

No PR, I'm afraid I am very unpushy when it comes to her riding and competing

. I just like her to figure it out for herself, like I did at her age.

I think she is about 5'3" now, so not huge but not tiny either; and yes she has always had beautiful light hands. Being a western rider for the most part, this IS something I have always harped on at her since she was tiny. I am very light-handed too, so perhaps it is in the genes.

Yes she has become a big girl now hasn't she. She's very teenagerish Lol! But there is still a lovely little girl in there at times.

I was so blown away by the difference in her jumping. She's always been a great little rider but having a little quirky 12.2hh and a mum who didn't take her to competitions, she's really learned a whole lot about jumping by listening and practising a lot. She pretends not to listen to me when I give her little tips, but I know she does listen ... and not only that but she really does try to correct any oddities. I rarely say anything to her about her riding, so when I do, I guess she must have been taking notice.

Thank you everyone for taking the time to say what you see. I was not fishing for compliments because it doesn't affect me in the slightest. I was simply asking for a bog standard critique mainly because I was so astounded at the difference a year, and a speedy horse, can make. The point being that a lot can be achieved in a relatively short space of time, if you put your mind to it.

OMG Tia! Where has the time gone? I can't believe how grown up she is!!!

I think she looks fab - well balanced and they both look to be enjoying themselves!

thnakyou for that.

I found your post incredibly uplifting, as you say because you can see so much improvement in one year!
Gives hope to us all, and never think you cannot do it, do as your daughter does, observe practice and learn.

She sounds a vey lovely intellegent ( except at her age I bet she can also be a teenage horror or she will be in a years time) young lady, you myust be very proud.

I think she looks great, I'd be pleased if it were me in those photos. I've seen a lot of kids lately not much younger than your daughter, and they have nowhere near as much bottle.
