Why would anyone make it grow that long, they don't grow that long naturally for the very reason that they would stand on it.
Look at my boy his hasn't grown any longer than it is now in the last 4 years I've had him.
I bet that really is a pain - Yes the horse probably stands on it and I am sure it gets in the way. I would definitely want to shorten that mane somewhat......
Looks lovely but rather impractical for both horse and owner ( or carer). I agree the horse may have problems with it with regard to standing on it which is probably why it has been put in a band.
While I do like to see gypsy vanners with the whole lot, feathers, flowing mane and tail too I personally would find it hard to manage in the UK with a horse that spends half of the year in the field and the rest split between stable and field.
Would have loved to have kept Mcfly's but we have decided to hog it ( need to tidy when I get some clippers repaired I have bought though lol) and people have said it suits him and I believe it does. We have kept most of his tail length though but thinned out a little and for the moment his feathers have gone as they were a mess and he had mites etc. Hoping to have them back though in time and just try and manage.
But for me personally I would not like a horse of mine to have a mane that long, ooh er :/
