Would you move your horse into a different stable in the barn?

So my stable set up is like the below
IMG_3931.jpeg
<1 that side and 2 that side>
<Tali has stayed in the single side since I got her.
>Peggy and Flo were in the other side. Both now over the rainbow.
Last year when I had Peggy and Tali they stayed in their own stables at the opposite sides as they didn’t get on anyway.

This winter I will have Tali and Darci. Would you move Tali into the double side so they are next to each other and can touch overnight or keep her in the stable she’s always been in?

Gorgeous barn! I’d give it a try for a week, see how Tali likes a move and being near her pal, if they get on well.

My 2 seem to ‘talk’ to each other by sniffing/touching each others muzzles regularly, so it‘s nice if yours get on that they can touch being next door to each other.

Worth considering if you keep 1 big barn door open 24/7, as shown in your pic, that Tali might enjoy the view through the door outside being in that corner. This consideration isn’t an issue if you usually shut both doors at night.
If you do keep 1 door open, might be worth switching doors and keeping the other door open so they both see outside being in the 2 stables on the other side.

Oh, i overthink this stuff dont i?! 😂 It’s just mine were miffed when i wanted to change the door system, and i figured it was all about them being able to see whats going on outside…that flight system instinct..😁

Tali very much wants to be friends with Darci and although they groomed each other to start with Darci is a bit standoffish now. But I do think as @PurBee says they would touch each other if they could.

We have windows in each stable so they can be left open to look out weather permitting. There is a lot of wind up here though so I’m wary leaving them open.

@ycbm I’ve thought about leaving it open. Because Darci is quite new still I don’t think I’d risk it this year but we could easy fence it off so they could have hard standing just outside and then get to the small paddock at the back. But that all depends on the weather again. Leaving shed doors open up here has caused roofs to blow off although my shed is only a few years old I’d hope that wouldn’t happen. But it is something I’ve been thinking about.

It’s a good point about getting attached. I guess that would be on me to get them used to being separate.

Omg the chicken 😍

He’s called Hop. Peggy accidentally stood on one of his toes last year while he was trying to steal her feed and it ended up falling off. So he’s got 5 1/2 toes. Considering they are free to go outside they choose to spend most of their time inside. And there not even me a to be in there

Ah you meant the small hen on the stable. 😂 she’s called Rambo as she’s a survivor. Had a bit of a rough start.

Aww bless, we got a few chickens we rescued. They look like they're loving it in there 🤣

I would leave things as they are. They can still see each other. Perfectly fine. Lovely set up. Lucky horses. Chickabiddies look very at home.
