would you pay in full before delivery?

I bought a brood mare and a youngster last year they were both paid for before delivery. I paid for transport as well, if you are paying a proper transporter he will not leave with out the proper documents. I surpose it depends on how much you are paying and what for.

Maybe. I wonder if she just wants to kill two birds with one stone, take the horse to you and see your place at the same time? I have to say, I don't want my horse going on any trailer until it's been paid for ... injuries or accidents and suchlike.

I agree re the possibility of accodents in a trailer, but of theyre insisting on delivery, then they shouldnt have a problem with COD, the op could find the horse comes down the ramp on 3 legs.
If she wants paid up front it would be cash on collection for me and only when the horse was in the trailer

I agree with some others. If they're delivering,I'd only pay the balance upon delivery. If I'm collecting,I'd pay the balance upon collection.

An interesting one, and I think a lot depends on 1) the price/value of the horse 2) how reputable the seller is 3) the distance between you both

If I was to buy a horse at the lower end of the market from a private buyer locally I would prefer to pay on collection as there are just so many dodgy stories. In the past I have bought more expensive horses from dressage dealers and it is the norm to transfer the money before you collect the horse. I have also bought from abroad and again, of course the money must be transferred before the horse is collected by the transportation company.

I wouldn't want to comment on your situation specifically but there are quite a few things to take into consideration.
