Would you poultice in this instance?

My daughters lead rein pony has been in at night most of this week due to the weather and I noticed when bringing her in on Thursday night she was a bit slow. I thought she was maybe feeling stiff from being in when she would normally be out so I took her for a 20 minute walk in hand yesterday afternoon to see if she loosened off. She felt off but not lame and a fellow livery who does bodywork commented she looked odd behind so gave her a once over for me. She is tight in her near side hip and had some warmth but no swelling in the same lower leg.

So I cold hosed, buted and kept her in for the night. This morning she walked out fine in a straight line and wanted to trot towards her field but is still stiff looking on that leg in a circle. I half expected to find it filled after being stabled but there is no swelling at all. However the warmth has extended downwards and can now be felt in the hoof. She is barefoot and was trimmed 8 days ago now. Our trimmer didn't touch her frogs but they are looking raggedy and I am wondering if there may be an abscess brewing in there. I am thinking wet poultice until Monday morning to see if anything appears to rule it out then call to the vet if the heat is still there. Thoughts?
 
Surely a poultice would draw it out? Although I'm going against the above, I would tend to say that it couldn't do any harm and might do some good, if it is the foot of course.
 
But if it's not in the foot it will just soften the foot more and that's not a great idea this time of year .
Stiff is a funny description of an abscess starting .
It might be lots of things .
If it's the thrush you don't want to give it a nice warm wet environment .
