Would you remove an eye or PTS?

If it was my horse, i know he wouldnt cope with one eye so i would have him pts.

I think it is one of those things where you know your horse and you have to go with your gut instinct
 
Just to add...as someone said to me just after my bought my boy, "Half the time they see too b####y much anyway!"
 
Personally I wouldn't pts, I would give him the chance to cope with one eye and then if it really stressed him out I would pts - I think you already made your mind up though from the sound of your posts. Its never an easy decision to make but its a decision that only you can make for him.
 
I have never ridden a horse with a missing eye, but I have watched a film that has definatley influenced my decision if I was ever in your situation. Watch the film called the Long Shot if you haven't already and I'm sure that will help you decide. Bit of tearjerker but a great movie!!

Im a hard person, who would pts if I felt it was in the horses best interest, but I feel that one eye can be worked through...
However, ultimately it is your decision to make, you know your horse best... go with your gut feeling xx

The article was in a magazine recently (can't remember which one or date sorry)

The horse is missing both eyes and the magazine had several more pages on success stories with horses that have lost sight/had eyes removed.

When I read about the horse in the picture, he is not one you would imagine to cope, however he did and is doing more than great. There’s lots of amazing stories for horses that have lost their sight. Don’t get too hung up on the temperament as you could easily be surprised.
 
Lots of horses have only one working eye and cope perfectly well, including competing. My mare only had limited vision in her left eye and was quite a spooky type at the best of times, and she was fine - I didn't even know her sight was compromised for years. Don't forget horses "look" with their ears as much as their eyes. I wouldn't even consider PTS to be honest.
 
i had a sharp unpredicatable mare who had an accident and damaged her eye beyond repair through an accident. I made the decision to remove the eye. She was fine, Still very sharp but she coped well, she liked having me on the side with no eye. :-)
