Would you rent a yard without water?

My mother had to tap into the farmers water supply as her pipes had corroded and it would have meant going through a wide river with loads mud, so the farmer let her tap into his water up the field and now she just pays him for her water. It was still a big job laying down the pipes up the huge field but much easier than the other option.

OP if this land is what you really want speak to the owner of the land and see if you can make a deal with a neighbouring supply.

If in agreement on both sides, maybe you could pay upfront and have this deducted off your rent.

I wouldn't, I used to keep my pony years ago in a field with 2 others and there was no water, EVERY day I wheeled containers up on an old pram frame just me nobody else did last bit was up a steep hill too, I didn't drive, the other pony's owners did !! I was still in school. Guess who's pony's drank the most, they NEVER filled it

So no I would not entertain it. Is shame as the yard sounds nice, does anyone live there ? something else I would not like as I've don't that before and used to be scared there on my own, I was the only one who seemed to ride in the evenings every day in the dark in the winter.

No, I wouldnt. It would drive me crazy. I hate it enough in the winter when my water trough and field tap freezes, having to lug buckets from my shed tap is so annoying. Be difficult to do things like wash the horse too. I guess you could fill those really big containers up on site (I dont know who you'd get to fill them?) but I wouldnt personally fancy using that as the horses drinking water given it'd be sitting about for days/weeks in the container. Seems bizarre they went the effort and cost to have an arena etc. yet no water... kind of a basic... Would it really be £15k? Is it near a well? I dont know how you get your water where you're from, we get ours from a private well so maybe digging your own borehole would be doable?

I haven't rented, but owned my own field with no water for several years. I just used to take containers of water up with me when I went up to do the horses. It was never a problem, although it was quite a luxury to get the water laid on eventually.
