My 5 year old has never jumped and thinks poles are MONSTERS!

I have brought her on in her flatwork, but I do not feel I know enough about jumping to make a success of the initial training (I'm a dressage person

So, I was wondering whether anyone had sent their youngsters away for jumping training, and if so how did you feel about their progress and how long were they away for?

Thanks,

yes Im going to send Chantin away next year for some show jumping schooling even though ill start her over poles/jumps this year. The guy who I hope to send her to is absolutely amazing and has a real talent for bringing them on in their own time and not scaring them by rushing them

I did. I sent my boy to The Evans's and they did a brilliant job. Shame you are not near to them as they are very good, kind but firm and produce excellent results and at a fair price too!
I would send a horse away again but next time i would go and visit more often to have lessons to learn with the horse.

That is what I was hoping to do, have some lessons while she was there as I have not really jumped in quite some time (except the odd fence with Hannah). I do not intend on jumping Grace competitively, but I think it will do her good to learn how to.

i know helga was own by some dressage guy and he sent her away to be schooled in jumping and she is so good to jump if i got a youngster i would do that to because i am more of a dressage rider then jumping.

Thanks... think I will have a look around. My old trainer is an eventer so she is the one I have been thinking of sending her to, and I know her and trust her too which helps.

Why dont you try pannama sports horses, carol really is good with the young horses, plus she showjumps for a living so would be well worth a try
