Would you speak up about this?

I have recently made a TikTok account and have seen lots of really funny and educational videos with the odd ones I don't quite agree with. I know social media can be quite a toxic place but I'm really struggling to bite my tongue after seeing an influencer with nearly 300k followers telling a story of how she got on a random miniature shetland at a fashion event and it took off with her for about 10 minutes. To my surprise, all the comments found it hilarious with just a couple pointing out how she had no right or permission to do so. All I can think of is that if this were a regular rider with no followers, everyone would be disgusted. But as this lady has lots of followers, everyone is jumping on the bandwagon and laughing. She also not only was way too big to be riding the mini but had no permission. Would you say something? Or is it not worth it?

I usually comment on things like that on fb and lots of people will like my comment. Lots of others will attack me but I don't even read the replies.

I think if saying it makes even one reader think and change their mind about the situation it's worth it.

Having said that if there's any way haters could make your life miserable then don't do it, it's not worth it.

I've spoken up about things on FB before.

I just have my say (in a polite and reasoned manner) and then turn off notifications so if someone has a go, I know nothing about it!

I pick my battles wisely though.

I saw this video, it made me equally angry - but I just scrolled on, you will not achieve anything by commenting other than people going mad to refute your POV. The owner of the mini should have given her a dressing down and sent her home, if they didn't then it certainly isn't your circus or monkeys. You will only frustrate yourself further when you feel like you aren't getting through.

What would be your aim in speaking up? To influence others' opinions or to make yourself feel better because you have 'let it out'?
If your aim is to influence others, forget it you won't. If to feel better yourself, carry on but don't look at any responses.
Honestly, probably both. But I'm going to leave it now I've had a nights rest. I think what annoyed me more than anything were the comments laughing about it.

Well I WOULD open my big trap and say something, I know I would. Wouldn't be able not to.

Then would be castigated by everyone for being "horrible" to the original poster.

This is the problem; as soon as you voice an opinion on social media you're immediately taken out to be hung drawn & quartered.

I recently lost the "patronage" of a life-long school associate, who was mortally affronted and called me a "cruel person" because I'd basically expressed an opinion about Dartmoor hill ponies (don't let me get going on this) where I'd said that surely it was better if no homes could be found for them and all the local rescues are full (which they are) to shoot them than have them go for a fiver at market and have an uncertain future. Especially as I knew the Knackerman involved and knew that he'd do a good humane job.

One day I will learn to keep my gob shut............. says she.

Horses behaving badly seem to be the in thing to post on social media and everyone seems to think it's hilarious when there's got to be pain or training behind it

I'd ignore as you would be feeding the trolls
