Would you take a fat horse to a dressage comp?

He is fit enough to travel the short distance by lorry, do a walk and trot test, and a prelim and travel home again.... its just that we have some real nasty pieces of work at this particular show... you know the ones that just happen to be saying something really nasty about you or your horse just as you go to enter at A.....

I have taken a fat horse to a dressage test :D:D:D
The training and the excitement of going to a 'horse party' was a good addition to his weight loss programme.

Go, any outing is good for practice. I've taken my permanently chunky cob to dressage, shows, and even pleasure rides over the 14 years we've been together, and just done what he's capable of for his weight and fitness level. Sod what anyone else thinks!

Let the snooty people be snooty. Dressage is not just for snobby b*****ds with warmbloods. That is exactly the attitude that keeps people out of this wonderful sport.
You must do this - for yourself, your fatty horse and for all of the other intimidated fatty horse owners out there!

Ignore the nasty comments, there are always spiteful people about wherever you go. Many people compete slightly lame horses (even at the highest levels) so an overweight animal is hardly a serious crime. If anyone questions you just explain that he is on a diet and you are working to get his weight correct.
