Someone is coming to start loading my 2 year at the beginning of the week and then i was wondering if i practised loading him every day and then a week later there is a show that i entered him for ages ago that i was wanting to take him to but do you think he would be ok to go or not?
I am really wanting to take him as it would be his last chance to get him to a show this year and it would be his first but don't want to end up scarring him!?!

I've took youngsters to shows before with no problem, do you have a problem loading him is that why your getting someone to help load him.
I think as long as there are happy to load then you should be fine taking them to a show.

TBH I would wait to take him to a show until he is completely happy and confident loading.

The mare I had a few years ago was a pain in the bum to load - she would load up at home, and then I would have all manner of problems loadng her up to come away from the show.

I sorted this by practicing loads. I would load her up and down a million times, until she would do it happily on her own (not being led) and then woul start shutting up the lorry. Once she was happy to do that I would start the engine, and drive backwards and forwards about 10m (all very exciting stuff!!!). Then I started taking her out for practice trips - and unloading her and re-loading her away from home. I tried to do re-loading somewhere not too far away from home in case we had a major disaster and i had to walk her home!

By this time she had really settled and became quite confident. I sold her about 18 months ago, and a couple of months ago the new owner asked if I would move her to a new yard. After all this time as soon as she saw the lorry she stil went straight up in there with no hesitation.

Slow and steady definitely is the way forward to practicing with loading.
Good luck xxx (Sorry for long ramblings....)
