Would you take on a horse with KS?

QUOTE=GlamourDol;13185872]Also keep in mind, if you X ray'd every horse, most would have some degree of ks.

Is there any evidence for this? I've never heard of any studies that have concluded this. I'd be interested to read it if there is one.

It obviously isn't bad enough to operate or they would've done so by now.

Or the owners don't want to spend two thousand or more on him. Some horses are very stoic.

The first bit you quote I've heard a lot. Maybe an old wives tale but it's been repeated by vets that I know of and plenty of experienced horse people. I have seen some research but not reviewed extensively to quote it. I suspect if you googled it some stuff might come up. It's intended to mean Ime that they have close spinal processes not necessarily that they are in pain from ks ie it isn't active.

I've googled it and I can't find anything.

I think it's a myth that arises from the fact that you can often treat kissing spines and it doesn't stop the horse's problems. They now know that's because about 60% of horses with kissing spines will have either PSD or sacroiliac strain, or both. And they very often have ulcers too.

I don't think there is any evidence that you can x ray a load of horses with no problem whatsoever and they have evidence of impinging spinal processes. Close, quite possibly, but for me kissing means touching, not close. But if there is, I would very much like to read it.
