carrying on from my other threads - I went to see the yard in question and it all looked brilliant except for a couple of things - one being the fact that although at a push you could turn round a trailer on the yard (by driving in front of stables then reversing trailer back up through stable walkway) there is nowhere I can see to park the trailer except for the end of the yard adjoining the road which would mean the trailer would be visible from the road and only seperated from the road by a single gateway (car parking much too tight for trailer). I am looking for 6 liveries - would you take the yard on ? what are the chances of me finding 6 who dont have and dont want transport ?

Also only one trailer would be viable

Any opinions welcome

Yes. When I had my horse at livery we kept the trailer at my dad's. When I had liveries, only one kept their trailer with us, the other kept hers at home. Most yards round us charge extra for trailer storage. I would be very sure that there is enough room to turn a trailer round for those that aren't good at it - I had drainpipes knocked off and everything!

People can keep them at a nearby caravan storage or something - you could research a few places and have the addresses ready for people who are put off by the lack of trailer parking.

I would, I'm on a yard but keep trailer at home even though it's free to keep there! There aren't many that are kept there really

Not quite the same but I used to keep my burger van at a local farmers for a few £ a month. There's always a way round a problem. If the yard is perfect in every other way it would seem a shame to reject it :)

oooh I thought it would be a deal breaker for most people ! will have to research the turning and re-think ! in summer not a problem as they just drive round schooling paddock but not sure how wet it gets in winter ! couple of other things to sort too but was gutted to think I might not do it !

It would be the least of my priorities! A useful but not essenstial facility. Ours is parked at home even when there was space on the yard!

If it'd a real issue why not investigate local farm yards and then you could offer parking at XXX amount a year just round the corner for those that really need it.

P.S They can just learn to reverse their trailer properly!

Could you not get some hardcore put down in a part of a field? Park trailers on that? It surely can be fenced off from the field itself - so no danger to horses?

No parking at mine, either -- I am happy to allow the use of a paddock for parking in the summer when ground is hard but it turns to mush if it rains, so at owner's own risk!
My liveries either keep trailers at home on driveways ... or at lorrypark. No problems
