Would you travel with this forecast for an outdoor XC clinic?

I've just checked the weather for an XC clinic tomorrow, saw this and really expected it to be cancelled! It's on a surface but outside. I've made my decision on what to do (not go!) And the instructor has kindly said he will keep the payment as credit towards something else. But I was curious what others would do!

I've got a 7.5t box, horse loads and travels well, I'd be travelling on my own.

Nope I wouldn’t go to anything outdoors in that. I’d even be cautious for indoor as the gusts can be brutal and I’d worry about it catching my transport

You made the right decision. I’m a confident tower with a rock solid heavy duty towing combination, and no, I’d never travel when black winds are forecast. It’s just not worth it.

The reckless may travel anyway and bray about how there’s nothing to worry about, but they are just showing themselves up. There’s also the issue of items blowing around at the venue. Are the arena eventing fences anchored down or free standing? Freestanding fences might well get blown over in those wind speeds.

No apart from the poor conditions for working in at the venue, you could be putting yourself, your horse and other road-users in danger. Unnecessary travel in high winds is always best avoided.

I always think it's better to not go but wish you had, then to go & regret it because of an incident in the bad weather (if that makes sense?!)

No, I wouldn’t be going. Heavy rain and strong wind is not going to be enjoyable at all for either of you. I’m even contemplating whether to turn mine out tomorrow or not depending on how bad it is. They have all been worked today and been turned out so wouldn’t be the end of the world but I do like to get them out everyday if possible.

I've just seen notification from a local riding club that a clinic is cancelled due to high winds (& I think we're better than you) so I suspect many people don't want to travel.

Horse lorry went over on the m56 the other day in similar weather. I'd travel if I had to, but pick the route very carefully. Given its just a clinic and outdoors, then no, I wouldn't go in this instance.

No I wouldn't risk it for a clinic. The only travel I would do in tomorrows weather forcast would be an emergency vet trip....you are right to not go.

It's not just the 'fun' of riding through a clinic in storm Gerrit but also the drive there and back. A trailer with a horse went over on the M56 in last weeks high winds.

I'd pass too, you might be fine but the other drivers actions would worry me too in heavy rain and high winds. Stopping distances and vastly increased too...

Thanks everyone! I've never had something on a forum so unanimous. The main concern for me was driving in it, but jumping would have been awful too!
