My friend went to see a horse for loan on Friday night. She got on really well with him and told the owner she would take him on loan.
Apparently the owner had already promised another girl the horse but told my friend she thought this girl was too fat and would cause the horses back to dip (??!!) She rang the other girl and told her she couldn't have the horse on loan and told my friend she would deliver the horse to her this coming saturday. Any way she also let another woman to try the horse on the Sunday. My friend has been texting her and speaking to her on the phone to reassure herself that she is going to be loaning the horse. But she is still doubting this woman.
I'm inclined to think the horse won't be coming on Saturday.

Walk away - gazumping on loaning is ridiculous and not a game your friend needs to be involved in. Could be honest mishandling of the whole thing, but why take the risk.

Definitely keep looking, as someone said ridiculous to faff around with a loan horse. I am looking to loan at the moment and I have been honest with each and every person and I have told everyone when others are coming to see him etc so they can choose to wait until after the other persons viewing etc. Walk on :)

There are horses out there for loan, but in this current market people are looking for all they can get and so far, the loans on offer seem to be last resorts to get rid as people can't sell :( Don't get me wrong, there are genuine pepole and genuine loan horses out there, but my god you have to work for it!

Slighty glib, but there is a thread about an older horse that might be looking for a home. Older, needs some work, but depending on your friends experience might be worth a consideration. THe owner needs to sort out the medical side but I have a hunch the horse might be worth it.
