Would you?

Not unless you know what you are doing ,they can cost a lot of money to get legal.Ours needed £3000 of work last year to get a plate and is a R reg [but is a 7.5 ton lorry]
That one is old ,it may be worth it but you need an expert to look

Thats kind of what I'm worried about. I'm not going to look at that one, it was just an example. I can't afford to buy a new conversion but there seem to be plenty of 3.5 ton lorries within my price range. I keep thinking that even if I go and buy one with tax and MOT there is no guaruntee it isn't going to cost me a small fortune in repairs. I don't know anyone that could look at it for me.

No dont buy it

This is the problem ,my husband is quite good with vehicles and we bought this one in the summer. It was all done up and drove beautifully. It failed on brakes 6 months later and we had them all done and it failed again. It turned out the brake pads they put on just didn't work well on our lorry ,another garage changed the make of pads and it passed. It had a couple of other jobs done but it is expensive.
It has just gone in to be prepared for its plating this Monday ,just hope it goes through this year.
Nightmare, good luck, try to get one with new mot or plate and warrenty
