Wash a horses legs and then bandage overnight before a show? Because of timings I won't be able to wait for her legs to dry before bandaging and it goes against the grain to put gamgee and stable bandages on wet (towel dried) legs. Not sure if I'm just being irrational though.

And another question... anyone got tips for covering up a bald patch of skin? Had a fungal infection on her back behind the saddle that has now cleared but there's a hand sized patch of pink skin that's embarrassingly visible.

Thank you

You could bandage, but horse will get imprints of where gamgee sat overnight and will be difficult to get rid of.

Shoe polish may work to cover pink patch, could match the colour with her coat!

I know its an added expense but stable wraps are perfect for that kind of situation. The ones that are designed to dry the legs off - I think Equillibrium do them. I own a pair of Fal stable boots that I use for that job.

For the bald patch (i'm an expert at this having a very accident prone horse!) Supreme Products (http://www.supremeproducts.co.uk/) do a make up range for horses. I own the chestnut one that is a bit too dark for Kuma but is better than pick skin! You are very welcome to try it (You can meet me at Uni?). Its a small pot but a little goes a long way!

Good luck!

I have the PE magnetic wraps which were half price in the sale, and for a couple of £ extra I bought the orange inserts as well (non magnetic) which I use if using the boots overnight. They haven't marked horses legs yet even putting them on damp legs.

I have used brown boot polish on a white scar, but thats slightly different as the underlying skin was dark so needed very very little polish to colour the scar.

Thanks Scientist, have messaged you on FB.

Really need to get some stable chaps/wraps but haven't needed them up until now as have generally had quite civilised starts, or at least early starts in Summer which isn't so bad but really don't fancy washing legs at 6am Friday morning as well as having to plait up! Think a trip to Countrywide may be needed
