Feed your horse/pony or allow your horse/pony to eat with a bit in?
My boy, and any of my previous horses are not allowed to eat anything with a bit in, the only thing I will allow is if tacked up and I am pre-occupied with something, he may grab a bit from his haynet, but he only gets 2-3 mouthfuls at most. I occasionally when on a hack would allow a quick stop for grass but often remove bridle (normally have a headcollar with me), or only allow a couple of mouthfuls of grass.
I have seen too many people allow their horse/pony to eat through an entire haynet with bit in, and even feed whole apples, and whole dinners with bits in. This to me is not acceptable, I have seen too many horses choke!
