wound on the jaw line, tooth abscess?

my yearling has a small wound not open just sore looking about the size of a 50p not bleeding just wet like its weeping. only been there a few days, he seems fine,

has he just rubbed it or can it be linked to his teeth?
any ideas?

not really but a hole has appeared today, looks like a vet call as hole was not there yesterday so its not a puncture wound as i would have seen hole yesterday. its very clean just weird wound.
 
My mare had something similar as a younster when I left the headcollar on for a few days,I think she was allergic to the cheap metal ring behind her jaw as the hole was central between the 2 sides of her jaw,it cleared up quickly and I never leave the headcollar on now
 
thanks have taken it off and will assess over wknd, really was convinced it couldnt possibly be the headcollare but we learn by our mistakes and the wisdom of others so will let you know x
