Just wondering if anyone knows if the Wow Club Saddle is lighter than the Competitor?
I currently have an older Competitor saddle, but as it is unlikely I will ever want to change the seat or flaps on a saddle, I would be happy with the Club version if it is lighter as the panels and gullet could still be changed for a good fit...
Any help appreciated.. :)

I have an older competitor xc saddle, and a relatively new club dressage saddle. The dressage saddle is quite a bit lighter than the xc saddle...

Thank you, thats hopeful! I love my saddle but the weight.. ouch, particularly on my just backed youngster.. Do you think the Club is as well made / comfy?

The old style resin seats are REALLY heavy. They've been replaces with the lighter leather version a good few years ago. The old steel gullets are also really heavy.

You cannot change the panels on the Club saddle, and they are usually foam, not flair, flocked. You can only change the flaps and the gullet.

It would prob be easier and cheaper to just but a new lightweight leather seat and lightweight gullet.

Thanks Kallibear, on the Wow website though it says the panels are interchangeable - I thought this would be the way forward as I have the right panels in flair already.. would be a bit gutted if I bought a Club thinking I could have it fitted and it was totally wrong... my brain hurts!! :(

I'm not sure but I don't think you can change the panels in the club, having said that, mine was ordered with the same panels as my competitor xc so maybe you can.

I actually prefer the foam panels, I have my competitor fitted with them too, they are lovely and soft and smoother I think than the flair panels.

I do love my club saddle, I think it's as well made as the competitor and is soooo comfortable. However my competitior is about 8 years old so I think they have moved on quite a bit since then.

Have you spoken to First Thought Equine about your queries?

Maybe they've changed the design? I've not had one for a good few years now. You weren't able to change the seat of panels, only the flaps, which is why they were much cheaper than the competitor version. Do ask them though.

I too didn't like the flair panels (the join between the two air bags was lumpy) and considered replacing they with flocking.
