Hi all, i posted on here a few days ago regarding tracing my mares past. just to re-cap :
http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/4879159/an/0/page/11#4879159

I emailed the person who bred her, and he called me today. He told me she was never meant to be sold. He was so shocked and couldnt believe that she was in the \uk. She never started her racing career as she had a virus and had to be sent away for a while. He is sending me all the info on her as the groom who looked after the horses has a record diary of them all. He even has her original passport which he is sending me. He said she was sent to someone he knows who sells horses on. He said he gave him her in good faith that she was to be brought on then sold on as a possibility for eventing/sj and whatever she sold for they where to split the profits. He said he never heard from him again. She was givin to him in april this year in good health. He has told me the name of the man who had her and i have seen that he is a dealer so poss sold onto the dealer i got her from.
He said he is really annoyed that she ended up in a bad way (skin and bone with rainscald) and will be contacting the man he gave her too.
(everytime he has called up about her in the past he was told she was going well) - he thought he still had her.
Anyways he says he is glad shes found me and hes forwarding everything he knows about her onto me.

Its so good to hear about her past at last - also her original name

Now i just need conformation (and a number) of the dealer who had her and if i can be cheeky how much she was sold for and if she was sold to the dealer i got her from.

Thank you to everyone who has helped me

The one thing that doesnt make sense though is that the breeder told me she left them in april - to someone i just traced on the internet (he gave me thier names) i called them just and they told me she was sold in the sales in June - called up the sales place and they said they only have sales twice a year, march and september, so they either have the wrong horse or she was sold straight to my dealer.
Another thing is that when i got her she was really thin and the dealers told me she was alot worse and she had rainscald - now the breeder said when she left them in april she was fit and well and up to weight - can she really loose condition (where talking visable spine, rib exposure severe muscle wastage, ewe neck etc) in the space of april 10 - end of june???

I have a 3 yr old thoroughbred gelding with a similar story. I bought him when he was just skin and bone full of lice, for a paltry £400 as I felt so sorry for him. I contacted his trainer as he raced as a 2 year old who still thought he was her horse, as he was supposed to be turned out with her ex partner. 4 months down the line and a lot of tlc, exercise and feeding and this afternoon I've just done a good 10 miles on him through North Wales forests in the Snowdonia National Park, galloping through tracks in gorgeous sunshine. Just fantastic!!!

yes a horse can go down hill fast.

i had one out on loan day he left me he was in perfect conditon.. 10 weeks later i removed him and reported the woman to the rspca

The dealer who she was givin too called me back (apparently it was his girlfriend who i spoke too) he was quite off hand at first wanting to know why i was calling etc so i explained. He was okay after this and told me that the breeder had givin him her after he had messed up on a bill (breeder is a vet) so he was givin the mare as a pay off. He said h kept her a few weeks then sold her at the auction for 600 euro apparently he said its a good price for a TB in ireland as they go for 200-300 euro as not many like tbs with weatherby passports. He said because of her nature and her good breeding he got more for her.
She was sold to another dealer called sweeny (?) apparently he has an excellent rep in ireland?? i think then she was sold to my dealers then bought over to the UK.
The breeder is sending me her original documents and passport through the post, should be interesting
