Wow, Have You Seen This Story??

This picture made me cry:

I must be getting soft in my old age. I never used to cry at stuff.

Fantastic that the story has a happy ending.

Dear lord, that brought a tear to my eye! That must have been so scary. Would be good to know if the horse has recovered fully now he's back home.

I had a similar experience in a chalk stream in Hampshire!
The solid gravel bed just went beneath us and we went from 6" of clear water to 5ft of mud.
Turns out that streams rising underneath can liquify really suddenly when put under localised pressure.
Most terrifying experience of my life. Somehow my horse got himself free whilst I was over the road getting the fire brigade. I still don't know how.

horrible, horrible. Poor horse, so glad it ended well :(

on a lighter note, before seeing the photos of the very slim owner, I misread the bullet at the top as "78 stone mother's horse swallowed up by mud"

Another one with a teary face! One of the most graphic photos of fear and distress I've ever seen.

I would suggest that the authorities section off that area so this incident is not repeated either to human or animal.

:D I kept thinking gosh lucky she was so lovely and slim - all those close up shots of her in a bikini!! :)

Very moving, we can all identify with how she must have felt.

But I just have to ask, what IS she wearing ?! Did she strip off once stuck in the mud, or did she set off on a hack wearing a bikini top with lace skirt? I know it's Australia, but still, standards people. :)

I was admiring the last picture where by the the time the horse is out she has on a clean dry bikini, dry hair and no mud!

Given the absence of a saddle I assume they were off for a swim in the sea, so bikini makes perfect sense to me :)

Glad they're okay, must have been so scary for them :(

Sadly I know someone who experienced similar in actual quicksand and it took I think 4 hours to get the horse out and 2 and a half for her, luckily they were both okay too. She'd been riding on that beach for years and years and never had problems, so it was a shock to everyone that it happened, just shows you can never be too careful.

Glad the horse and people in the article are safe, it brought a tear to my eye as well.
