Wow, Have You Seen This Story??

There's an old Australian stockman, lying, dying
And he gets himself up onto one elbow, turns to his mates who are gathered 'round and says:

"For feck's sake Sheila, always look where you're going!"

(Having said that, I do believe that the answer to ALL the world's ills is a farmer with a tractor;))

Gosh how dreadful, very touching photos there, but lovely to see everyone pull togetherm thankfully a happy ending *breathes a big sigh of relief*!

I cried when I read this and saw the pictures.
The desperation and fear is plain to see on her face.
What an amazing, brave and dedicated lady she is. That horse is very lucky to have someone who clearly loves it.

I love a happy ending :)

Thank goodness it all ended well :)
I too had a scary experience in mud - not as horrendous as this story, but still sends a shiver down my spine.
My husband was paddling in a river with Harvey when Harvey suddenly just sank up to his stomach. He struggled to get out but just got completely stuck. I went into major panic mode as Harvey just looked like he knew he couldn't get out - I was ready to call the fire brigade. My non-horsey husband somehow managed to pull his head to the side and sort of drag him over and Harvey decided to give it another go and launched himself out.
I know it is nothing compared to the story in OP, but was pretty frightening at the time!

Gosh makes me realise how Lucky Herbie and I were when he leaped into the bog  I had afew minuets of terror but herbs managed to get out. I dread to think what would have happened if we had been stuck for three hours :(
I'm glad this story ended well. :)

Got me all tearful, the expression of terror & desperation on that poor ladys face & the poor horse, fingers crossed for a full recovery

Ugh gorgeous horse, so glad they both got out safely.
The comments on that site though disgust me, depresses me to the core when they're like its just a "dumb animal, stupid women etcetc" but thats another topic..

Oh my god that is such a moving story! Just like Atreyu and Artax in the Never Ending story - I have a proper paranoia about horses sinking into the mud!

well, it is the daily fail in fairness!

Wow. How horrific that must have been. Nice horse too.

Re the comments - people only put them for reactions - not worth replying to them, they're idiots!

Wow indeed, it made me cry too, I think the love and worry on her face is what finished it for me.

So glad the ending was a happy one

I had a scarey experience in a bog, too. Looked like a puddle with grass in it and I was trying to teach Henry to go through water. He ploughed in and rocked forward with half his head going under, then up to his belly in bog, thrashing around. There was a bank to one side, which I threw myself onto, to give him the best chance. Once I wasn't interfering, he managed to climb out the other side and we were none the worse for wear, although we looked like monsters from the deep and stank to high heaven. I still skirt round that little bog today and I still panic if he slips on the side. Learnt after that incident that people used to get 4 x 4s stuck in it, back when they could access the forestry.

For the record, I don't force him to walk through puddles I don't know anymore and don't blame him when he doesn't trust me!!!

this made me go cold! Poor woman and poor horse! How utterly scary for her! We all know the risks but never for one minute think we are putting either our horses or ourselves in danger :( Thank good for the happy ending.

This picture made me cry:

I must be getting soft in my old age. I never used to cry at stuff.

Fantastic that the story has a happy ending.

I see myself as a tough little cookie, but I'm with you on this... that picture left me gulping for air :(

Glad to see everyone got out of this alive and well...
