nope! have a look on DVLA website, it should all be on there. you will need a full driving licence to be able to take the HGV test - all of the extra catagories B+E, C, D etc are additions to your standard driving licence.

You have been able to take your test early anyway under a goverment scheme, my daughter passed her test first go aged 20.
There were funds available for training if you worked in the horse industry (or anything else where you drove a lorry) and they have kept a close eye on her although she is now 21. They come regularly and go out in the box, and she has to answer some questions etc.
I laughed last time because he only got her to drive the 8 miles out of here to the motorway, then told her to go back, telling me anyone who could cope with our single track twisty blind cornered roads in a box was doing fine!
Next month is her final assessment.
I'm not sure if the funding has ceased, but it's worth trying for it. My daughter is about to do her artic test next, it all helps in your career..

I did not know that, I thought as long as a pre-97 driver was with you, you were OK....phone call to the DVLA from me I think!
 
I would be interested to know the outcome of this as i have grandfather rights (30yrs old))) to drive an 7.5 ton and was looking to get one but my friend passed her test MArch 2007 so 3 months after the cut off date. can she drive with L plates on on a provisional with me sitting next to her?
