i havent really looked at either of my two from a far recently, they have been rugged and i have been checking under neath the rug but hadnt taken it off for 3/4 days as they are practically field ornaments, so i take them off and woaahhh my horses have exploded and are now on diets... i was just completely gob smacked about how barrel like they looked :p

they seem to have lost a lot of it now with a diet, grass cut down and some work i just was so surprised how much they can put on so quickly :o

I'm surprised you don't take rugs off every day? Even if they are field ornaments they still need checking over for any rubs/sores etc which you can't really do with a rug on.

im not far from you and i have lots of grass! its got rather lush and green with all the rain we have had, have to muzzle my one and strip graze him and he still needs to loose a few pounds, we move to our winter grazing in a couple of weeks and he will be in at night so that will def help!

Leave the rugs off!................... its not cold, neither mine have rugs on and they are 18 and 20, and unless it rains/howls a gale, and its below about 5 degrees thats how it will stay.

their rugs were undone and checked fully but they didnt come off fully as i have 2 wimps for horses :o i am all too aware of injuries i have an accident prone idiot of a horse and no they haven been my fault before im jumped on because i dont take there rugs off :)

both of my horses were tucked up and shivering and when it rains i need to keep taz's back warm due to having back problems there has also been a frost in the morning when i get there so it is getting cold

and yes i just shot up i must have about 5 inches of grass so they only have quarter of their field and cows in the other side :o
