Jacq - what are you going to do with your Ideal when you get your WOW?

E (assuming it will happen - I'm seeing a Sue Carson fitter today, just in case, but WOW next week)

I think I'm pretty much convinced to save up for one, though I will NEVER be able to tell OH/Parents how much they cost

They think I'm mad if I spend £700 on a saddle!!!

I never thought Asti had high withers, but looking she does though they are fairly wide, and she has a wide back and for her size, very big shoulders and she does move She has a very bouncy action but one that when you make her work, gives her movement you would not expect from a "pony" (well almost) and for her breeding.

However, if she's off to be put in foal in June, I think I'll swap and change my saddles etc now to manage, maybe get a bareback pad as she will be ridden lightly whilst in foal, and save up and get her fitted afterwards when she's coming back into work. Unless I win the lottery...

Thanks to Ann-Jen BTW who has passed some info and fitters details to me...

I had the Sue Carson rep out today... very nice saddles indeed - apart from my previous 5 minute ride on a WOW, this was the first time I've felt as if I was sitting upright on the horse in the right position- certainly a thousand times better than the Ideal.... Pony moved much better and, but for a bucking fit when we went into canter which is entirely stress related and has to do with the way she was backed (I think - certainly it's a seriously stressful experience), she was moving very freely.

I have it on loan for 10 days and will do a direct comparison with the WOW next week. She was fluent in her reasons why SC was so much better than WOW, but then that's her job.

Peter Storr and Damien Hallam ride in these ones so can't be too bad...

will report next week

Can't recomend a wow saddle enough!! It's completely changed my mare's attitude and way of going!

Very briefly, she's incredibly sensitive and although I have no doubts that other saddles were fitted correctly, she just wasn't happy in them and would get stuffy and back off when schooling.

Had mine fitted after talking to a fitter at blenheim last year and have never looked back!

I have the dressage and jumping flaps and although sometimes it would be easier to have two seperate saddles, it is completely worth it to have a horse that's happy and rideable!

I think it's deff worth speaking to wow and getting someone who has a full range of seats and flaps to trial as I found this made a big difference to me and I know that some saddles who claim to stock wow saddles, actually only have one or two flaps and seat choices for trial.

Hope you find the right saddle!
