I think that is why I dont have a problem with them either!

OP- I use a deep seat with sj flaps and I am fine. But like I said I have never had a flat seat so to me it is the norm.

I might consider swapping one of my deep seats (I have 2 saddles) for a shallow seat. (18 in black )

Just to clarify to those who have tried both, what is the difference (security/feel) between the fixed block jump and xc flaps? Is it just that xc is more forward cut and has less of a block?
 
i would say the fixed block is a lot more "secure" feeling and some people do not like the xc flap as there really feels like there is nothing there.

it depends what you are comfortable with really.

My legs did not fit properly into the fixed block but the xc flap suits me well. However my friend had the xc flaps and was shorter than me and just felt like she could not sit still (so we swapped flaps)
 
I started out with the fixed block jumping flaps and then bought some VSD flaps which I use for everyday riding (and in my own crap style I can jump in these too). I loved the shallow seat and didn't find it insecure or too flat but likewise didn't find the deep too deep. OH prefered the deep so that's what we ended up with. The seat has never been a problem jumping (just everything else...rider, horse
