Ive got a 6yr old who is changing shape all the time. I bought him a wow saddle about 5/6wks ago now. He is so much more softer over his back and more willing to work through from behind. The difference from my normal saddle is amazing.
Some people on here will slate them and the way they are put together - but the part that touches the horse is the air filled bit and its just soft and squishy and really allows the horse to move properly. Obviously you have to get the fitter to adjust the air when required, and il probably get my fitter to change the headplate when necessary too.
Its definately the best money ive spent in ages. Ive got a deep seat dressage with knew blocks which are slightly bigger/different to the giant blocks on their website.
Hi , i have two wow saddles, one xtra deep suede seat dressage with conventional flap ( looks like albion slk ultima ) and one shallow seat jumping saddle with event flap. i brought my horse 9 months ago, quite angular high withered and not much top, i brought a bates dressage and bates event with the hope that he would grow with them and as he developed top i would be able to adjust to fit, unfortunatly neither fit for long and adjustment wasnt fine tuned enough to stay with him, i read about wow and had a saddler out who was brilliant ( spent over 3 hours with us, looking measuring, watching him work in different panels etc ) had to wait a few weeks but worth it as horse is so happy in saddle and its very comfy, i have had to had it adjusted a few times as he grew into it very quick but now has stablised having put on 2.5" either side of saddle, and generally rounder all over and happier in his work, i have brought a jumping one as well for the odd time i do jump!! highly recommended but as with any saddle the fitter you choose is essential! hope this helps
Ive got 2 WOW's now. Really love them as said above the differance in my horses way of going was great. The WOW's are so versitile, i bought my 1st WOW because my WB was young & changing shape. Bought my 2nd WOW for my TB because of the results with my WB. Also there very comfortable to sit on which is a bonus.
I have an Extra deep seat with conventional dressage flaps & a VSD Fixed block with shallow seat. Both are fantastic saddles. The Shallow seat is surprizingly supportive & both saddles put you in a lovely position.
As for fitting the horse they are fab saddles but they won't suit every rider (I hate them because I feel too perched because of the way the seat is designed).
I've been riding in a WOW saddle for about a year now. I have ridden 6 different horses in them and they have all gone better.
I rode a mare for someone and persuaded them to buy one. In the first few months of my riding the mare she went up nearly 4 saddle widths. The WOW allowed her to muscle up beneath the saddle and also made it possible for the owner to alter the saddle very cheaply.
I would recommend getting a brand new one rather than second hand. That way you can pick all the different options so that they suit you and your horse. I have heard some rumours that some of their saddle fitters are not the best in the world. So make sure that you are happy with the way the saddle looks on your horse. Maybe try and see if there is any one else in your area who already has one and who can personally recommend a fitter that did a good job on theirs.
If anyone can personally recommend a WOW fitter in south Shrops (Hereford/Powys border area), I'd be grateful - had a fairly bad experience with one but still want the saddle...
They are fab. I got one for Adrian & his topline & way of carrying himself improved tremendously in a short space of time. I've got a deep seat with giant dressage blocks & also jumping flaps.
I didn't like it at all when I first tried one cos it felt like sitting on a wobble board but after about 30 mins I got used to it, then when I used my normal saddle the next day, it felt really hard & unyielding.
They can be finely adjusted to compensate if you sit crooked (which I do from injury) plus it puts you in an effortless good position. It takes a saddler about 5 mins to change the front arch, so v readily adjustable without being sent away.
Daughter's horse fitted today and she said it was amazing .Rafi needed an H girth which was expensive but the saddle sat perfctly then and he was so forward and she just had to touch him and he was in front of the leg .
David did hers at Richard Davison's but Richard did recommend lorna on 07971630513 .
I got my Wow about 4 years ago and initially my horse changed shape out of all recognition. She went from a size 0 headplate to a size 2 within the first year and just over a year ago she required a change of panel to accomodate her increased topline. Since then it has only needed one minor air adjustment as I don't think she's really going to change that much from now on in.
I have the GP and I mainly show-jump and do a little dressage in it.
