Does anyone have a WOW saddle? are they as good as they sound? what about Devoucoux?
i am thinking of possibly getting one or the other when i get my new horse, and would like to know what people think of theirs. thankyou.

You will get people singing the praises of both, but you are not comparing like for like so hard to say. I have Devoucoux and love them even though one of my horses just does not go a yard in his Devoucoux dressage saddle (has a much cheaper Saddle Company dressage saddle and loves it). Never tried a WOW so cannot comment.

See if you can try both and how your horse goes in them before committing to spending a large sum of money as neither brand is cheap.

i have had a wow with both jumping and dressage flaps.

i love the jumping saddle, and the dressage is nice although maybe you dont sit as close to the horse you would in a devoucoux/amerigo etc.
i opted for a wow as buying 2 saddles seperatly, probably new, would have cost more than buying the wow with 2 sets of flaps and i could find nothing to fit my mare who was high withered and shallow behind the wither, its nice to know that you can change each part seperatly to change the shape to fit as well.

if you would like any more info then please feel free to ask.

I can honestly say that the Devocoux Malika dressage saddle is the nicest dressage saddle I have ever ridden in. I really wanted one, but couldn't afford one, even second hand. Really lovely, wonderful saddles!

I've had my WOW for a week. I bought it 2nd hand & at first it felt like sitting on a wobble board, but now it's been 'set up' for me, it's fab. I've got 2 sets of flaps too. It's improved my position loads & the air has been fine tuned to compensate for me sitting crooked due to a back & ankle injury on the same side.

If you try one, try it for an hour cos when I first tried one I'd have got off after 5 mins & said I didn't like it. They feel weird at first until you get used to them but it's well worth persevering.

I have a Devoucoux and love it. I tried a Wow but just did not suit me. I must admit I couldn't see what made a Devoucoux more expensive than other saddles and tries other makes but in the end a Devoucoux was comfortably worth the extra.

While both makes are good, saddle manufacture is changing all the time and it always worth looking at alternatives. Devoucoux have had a repulation for not being hardwearing in the past, and WOW are quite unlike anything else and do require regular attention to the setup

If you want maximum horse comfort - go for the wow or saddle company

If you want maximum rider comfort but compromise on horse comfort- go for the Devoucoux. but do personally think that horse performance is very compromised in these saddles and that the horses physically cannot be truely 100% soft and round in them, due to the way that they are designed.

I just do not understand WOW how can you have a flat seated jumping saddle and then the next minute change the flaps and expect it to be a deep seated dressage saddle? Surely the structure is very different and things that would affect that are the cantle and the pommel?

To be fair - for the £450 the extra flaps cost, it buys you a nice dressage saddle!

I've got two wow's - but I'm wondering whether I would have been better off with a saddle company, as my serge panelled Aussie stock saddles have always fitted very well.

Fingers crossed that wow can fix my probs!

when you say "saddle company", do you mean Barry Swain's Walsall Saddle Fitting Company? his are serge panelled and are brilliant. i have the Madonna saddle and it is absolutely wonderful. i know better than to say that one saddle will fit every horse, but so far, it fits everything i've put it on... the panels are so flat and comfy, and everything goes well in it.

Halfpass and I visited the WOW stand at Hickstead and they were nice enough to let us sit on several saddles, they were really nice and helpful and if I had the money I would definately buy one. I sat on a lovely dressage saddle, which felt perfect for me, I could have sat there all day!

The people on the Devoucoux stand were a bit snotty and stuck up and wouldn't let us sit on any of them

I love my WOW, and would'nt change it for the world. I have ridden in the Devoucoux Malika and it is a beautiful saddle, but I have found they only fit a certain type of horse..

Saddle company
Barry Swains sounds similar to the saddle co, but its not the same saddle. Saddle co's are so cheap ( £600) and also serge panels. My horse goes so amazingly well in it and he has had every top model under the sun made for him but his cheap little saddle co saddle wins hands down.
Unfortunately I cant ride in the dressage saddle co so I do dressage in my GP saddle.

I'm going to spek up.
Loathe both haven't seen anyone riding on one that's been correctly fitted even though they've been fitted by WOW or Devoucoux fitters.
Know of a made to measure Devoucoux that on arrival didn't remotly fit and they wouldn't take it back.

That said same Devoucoux does fit another horse well and is very nice to ride in on that horse.

Seen many WOW's that lift up at the back when in use.

So I suppose my gripe is mainly with the way their fitted. (or not as is generally the case).

Ive got 3 difficult to fit horses and have tried every saddle known to my saddler...including umpteen treeless varieties.

Doffthederby is spot on about the devecoux being a compromise on the horses comfort.

I have WOW saddles and have found them second to none... versatile, comfy and affordable. Had hubby not been riding in one when his horse had a horrific fall, we would have had a broken tree and a very injured horse... amazing saddles - cant recommend them enough.

However - a cautionary note - get a good fitter. My fitter, Fiona Reddick covers your area (and can be found on the stand at Burghley this year) and has been amazing.

If youre unconvinced, go and ride one at Burghley...!!

Ummm, haven't tried a WOW, but rode in a Devoucoux Mikila today and I really wanted to not get on with it (due to £) but did really like it! M seemed to go really nicely in it as well... Better start saving!
