WOW Saddles - How Much?

My last one was £550 from eBay a week ago. All in very good condition, older heavier seat but unmarked. GP flaps and popular panels. I'm going to re-seat it with a flat seat and sell it again when people's horses are out at grass and credit card bills for Christmas are all paid off.

On Ebay, panels £200-300 seats and flaps £300-500 are the normal ranges.

I had a wow saddle fitter put me together a second hand one made from parts bought separately. It came in around £1400 including 2 fitting sessions.
That included an ex demo seat and brand new headplate. The flaps and panels were about 2 years old.

Same for me. Fitter told me which parts to get and I went off and sourced them on my own (and she helped find some parts). Came to about £1,400 as well. Love my WOW as I can adapt it to any horse (and have) so hopefully I'll have it for many years.

I think they do the cheaper "Club" type ones which are already complete...

Second hand dressage £800 (I was lucky!) and it's a really great fit (frivolous treat for a 19 year old horse maybe!) .

However I do really like it and when my filly is older and 'doing' I would like to buy one new to my spec ......whether I can afford it will be another thing!! They are a bit dear!

My Wow Competitor was £2600 that was including the initial consultation, first fitting, and a free first check.

I am just in the process of buying a new extra deep seat, I was sold the shallow seat because I wanted to swap the panel between dressage and jumping, but I don't like the fact the shallow seat offers no support when in Dressage flaps/mode.
Wow have quoted me £940 for the seat alone.

I bought a WOW club dressage for my previous horse. It was my fitter's demo saddle and cost me about £1200 6 years ago.
It has a fixed seat and flap but panels and head plate are changeable. I opted for it as it was in perfect condition and the seat, flaps and blocks were exactly what I wanted/ needed. I've had 3 head plate changes for my new horse who came to me in a poor state and rapidly changed with feed and schooling. the only other change needed for him was to go from a forward point strap to a rear one. Luckily the panels have not needed to be changed.
I dread to think how much I would have spent I'd had to change saddle every time he changed shape, at one point we went from a 0 to a 3 head plate in 8 weeks. That cost me £90 for the fitting and head plate (bargain imo)

Hey there,
sorry to jump in on this post, but wondered if you still have your WOW saddles and your thoughts on them years later? I am looking into getting one and its currently between that and a Black Country? x

That poster is currentltly having a break from the forum, so is unlikely to respond to your post. There are other Wow saddle users on the forum who you might have better luck with.

They are very marmite saddles, plenty of folk and horses hate them so do trial very carefully before you splash the cash.

If you put "wow saddle" into the search bar and ycbm in the "by" user box it will bring up quote a few posts on the subject.

If you don't put the user name in it will bring up threads (if you tick title only) on the subject and have posts by everyone.

Hope that helps

Thanks tiddlypom. I am really torn between a wow and Black Country. Trouble is I am the easiest person to sell to and find saddle fitters tend to only sell one type of saddle. How do you trial a saddle without buying? X

Wow fitters do normally let you trial the set ups for a couple of weeks before you buy.

I have used wows for years on all of mine and I love them. Used on multiple different horses and not once have mine ever shown a tight or sore back and they all have even muscling. Physios are always surprised to find horses with such good backs and muscles!

I do have a wonderful fitter though which really helps

Who is your fitter and how do you know you are getting a good one?
Also how much around would a brand new dressage saddle be? X

Depending on what area you are in you can search for fitters on their website. Tbh that's the same for any saddle fitter really, on whether you get a good one or not, but recommendations are normally the best way.

A brand new saddle is going to cost around £3.5-4k upwards.

Does it have to be new? When we were looking for certain Wow parts there always seemed to be a lot of dressage saddles. Our Wow saddle fitter told us what parts/sizes to look out for.
