I looked at and tried some Wow saddles at the weekend. Ok folks - I'm convinced, they're lovely saddles.

How many of you have the Club saddles???? I really don't think my budge can stretch to the Competitor. But I'm concerned that the Club GP knee blocks are just too big. Although I could just go for the Jumping saddle....

Also, what seat sizes do most people use. I tried size 1 which felt small - but the size 2 was too big. I guess because they are cut back they can feel snug initially.

Any way - thoughts????

When we had our saddler out last week I asked her about WOW saddles, she said some people love them, others hate them. Her advice was to try before you buy

i went for a fitting at the weekend and loved the one i try but i just couldn't stretch to the price of a new one and the club just wasn’t the right shape for me, i really trust my saddle and he said i might fine one on eBay but the chances of it being the one i need is slim so i would end up spending as much getting it to fit so i have gone for an ideal 1550 with flair and that comes out about the same as the club maybe a tad more, it depends what you looking for in a saddle, i tried the vsd with different blocks so it didn’t seem right spending £1600 on a saddle that i don’t needed two sets of flaps for when i can spend £1200 for as good a saddle, sorry for rambling didn’t really answer your question!.

When I got mine there only was the one type but its fully adjustable so most like the competitor. I have a size 2 seat but it probably depends a little on the seat style as well. I've got a deep seat which has always felt fine. Its recently been away being repaired and I was lent a flat XC seat (also a size 2). It took a bit of getting used to, but when I got my deep seat back - that then felt odd and the seat felt loads smaller! I am about 5'6" and approx 10st but with a a big bum and the size 2 is about right for me if thats any help?

YAY - you're converted, they are fab saddles aren't they!!

I have a size 1 seat, but i am really skinny. I think size 1 is around 17'' and size 2 is 18''.

Why dont you just go for the jumping club saddle if the blocks are a bit smaller? Altho you can get the blocks changed on some of them to suit you?

I wouldn't recomend any WOW saddle as i've heard so many bad things about them and the company.

I realy cant think why, since ive had my Wow saddle ive not had a single problem with Archie's back - he had physio this week and hadnt had it for 6months and there wasnt anything wrong with him. When i had the Ideal on him he got serious muscle wastage under the saddle and it made his back sore. In the Wow the difference in his muscle tone after 4weeks was amazing. He had the head plate changed to a wider one after just 4 months, so that shows how much he is changing shape because they allow them to 'grow' properly unlike conventional saddles which can restrict. Obviously you need to get a recommended Wow fitter, but i dont know anyone who has one who dosent rate them very highly.

i am really glad yours is working out and Archie likes it, it sounds like the conventional saddle was not correct for him either in tree or panel design which is a shame.
i would only hear the bad so maybe my view is tarnished but beleive me somethings are not pretty - mainly due to bad fitting or faults in manufacture (head plates) or how customers have been treated by the company i can't say on here but one letter i have read was absolutly shocking.

yes, i agree, ive heard some awful reviews about them aswell. I made sure i got the best fitter out to do mine tho! I phoned up David at Wow and said i only wanted their top fitter, he couldnt come out so he recommended mine to me. Shes fab, really really good.

I am really interested in one for Troy when it comes to backing time... I don't have a saddle that would just do (both mine are Albions) and I lost quite a bit of money when I bought a cheapish one for Grace and then sold it

What appeals to me is that they allow the horse to grow, and the plates can be changed constantly to fit the horse... I think this would be perfect for a young horse who I want to compete in the 4 year classes. Only two and a bit more years to go

I have personally experienced their poor service and have heard first hand stories of others having problems. I wouldn't buy one on principle as I do not believe I would get the support needed to ensure it fitted correctly in the long term.

Seat size - argh - I had a 1 which was too small, but I swim around in the 2

Yes, that's rather how I felt. Not sure I thought the 1 was too small - just snug.

Size 2 would just be too big.

I didn't think it was too small, David did

Ah, ok.

But overall, despite a few teething problems, you've been happy???

Tempi did your fitter's name begin with L? I suspect that's who I had. I was very very sceptical but even more curious, so had a demonstration done a week ago. I am completely converted and can't wait to get mine delivered, beginiing of July. Flash was a totally different horse in it, it was absolutely amazing, and the fitter was able to spot things that I never would have picked up on, make tiny adjustments and totally correct my position and balance. Couldn't have been more impressed with saddle or fitter, both were fab!

Sorry - wish I could. Weird though, I thought a seat size 2 was equivalent to a 17.5". I'm 5' 4", size 10 (12 on a bad day) and seat size 2 is perfect for me. Certainly don't feel like I'm swimming about and one of my horses is a champion spooker!
