WOW saddles - yay or nay?!

Yes and would never go back.

My horse is a saddlers nightmare and they solved all the issues for him. He works much better now and we're both happy. The owners of the company have kept in touch with me over the past year since the fitting to see how he's going and appear to have a genuine interest in my horsey

Love my wow

I enquired about WOW's in my post in the Stable Yard a few days ago. Everyone was very positive about them! I think its about half way down the page.

Some horses will find the adjustment to flair strange because in the same way that we can feel more of whats going on underneath, they can feel more of what we're doing.

Im on my 2nd wow (2 different horses) and not had this problem though.

They're certainly somewhat different to ride in and I do think its a bit of a love them or hate them situation (although I think you need to try them a couple of times to give them a fair shot).

I find mine much more comfortable and secure than a more conventional saddle. The seat is shaped differently to help give a more secure feeling (which is why they claim sitting trot is easier).

They certainly made a huge difference to my horse's way of going. It free'd up his shoulder much more since the tree moves laterally to allow this and the flair has encouraged him to round through his back more which has helped his outline 100%

I think you need to try one really and judge for yourself

The "twist" in mine which is what i assume you're referring to is considerably wider than most of the other saddles i ride in (work horses in amerigos, albions, sue carsons etc)

I dont find them ugly either and tbh, from a distance, i doubt most people know what saddle it is aside from the slightly tell tale silver bar across the back but its not the only brand to use that either.

I rode in one several times and it just felt wrong wrong wrong! and one horse I know in particular actually bucks when it is put on (is fine with other flair saddles) and is very regulary having it adjusted by the wow fitter and the last adjustment to me just seems a very bizarre alteration as she admitted it was bouncing behind!

I know lots of horses and people love them to bits but just not my cup of tea in the slightest

I have one and I love mine. My horse is very short coupled and has very wide spinous processes but initially was quite a narrow fit (due to her previous saddle she had some muscle wastage). It was difficult to get a narrow fitting saddle to accommodate her wide spine and so she found a lot of saddles very uncomfortable and it caused a good deal of bad behaviour which stopped as soon as I got the WOW. She has since gone up several width fittings and is now the equivalent of an extra wide. She has had to have the panel replaced to accommodate her increase in topline. Basically the saddle has been a godsend to both her and me. I do think though you need to get them fitted by someone who is very experienced in WOW fittings as they are only as good as the fitter at the end of the day.
Also I find mine very comfortable to ride in and the wide twist makes you very secure - after having a very flat seated close contact jumping saddle this is something I really appreciate.

Same as Tierra except hes a she! I dont think they are the prettiest or easiest to ride in. (I bought an albion ultima first- much nicer to ride in but horse hated it)

It has made a huge difference but I have had to have it altered 4 times since August!!

I also used to suffer from back pain due to being thrown off due to saddle issues. Now dont get thrown off and no back pain.

I wouldnt change the saddle with this horse but I think there are so many saddles to choose from that I would not necessarily opt for a wow if I had a choice. I would always go for what suited the horse.

I'm hoping to get one soon as well

I really don't get the whole ugly thing, because i think they look rather nice, actually really nice.

A friend got one for her dressage horse a few months ago and its amazing how well hes going. My friend is positive that the saddle helped her get 75% in an affiliated Novice test the other day. He really has just got better and better since getting a wow.

I have one for my lad and wouldn't consider ever going back to a conventional saddle.
Freedom of movement and muscle development for him coupled with security and comfort for me. We both win!

I think the flat seat early models were ugly. Newer models, particularly the deeper seat version look very nice, especially if you get the colour combination right.
Will take a pic of my lad wearing his today and post it so you can see what I mean.

I think this has a lot to do with the fitter. I'm planning to get one, but I will take my horse down to Canterbury and get sorted out by the people who make them. I've got a couple of friends who have done this and they are thrilled with their saddles. The service was exceptional as well.
There are a couple of fitters that WOW have parted company with, because they weren't giving an good service.
I also think if you have a go on a friend's saddle, or try one on your horse, you might well hate it. This might be because they are so individually set up for the particular horse and rider that the fitter sees and works with.

i love mine, my fitter is also very good and im very happy with its fit.

i thought they were ugly previously to getting one, but when youre in one..you honestly dont know! especially the jumping/dressage versions!

absolutely yay............

cannot fault mine. Its made a massive difference to my fellas soundness and is the only saddle on the market to accomodate his wide flat shoulders and croup high shape. I tried every treeless going and none of the offered the comfort I get or the security.
