Tried a dressage WOW today and felt it vastly improved my seat and horses way of going - I am so tempted to purchase one but as they are a relatively expensive saddle are they worth the money? also is it worth buying the WOW girth or is this unecessary?

Ive got a Wow dressage saddle - which one are you getting? Ive got a size 1 extra deep seat with the new knee blocks which are slightly bigger than the giant blocks and a slightly different design.

I think mine has been worth every penny so far, i love it and my horse is muscling up so quickly its amazing! Ive only had it about 6wks but id never go back to a conventional saddle now!!

With regards to the girth i already had a lovely Albion Humane Girth so i use that with it.

Totally agree with the above. I've got jumping & dr flaps & my position has improved 100% & so has Adrian's topline. Wish I'd bought one for my previous horse Catembi.

there have been lots and lots of threads on WOWs if you do a search.
they're on ebay fairly frequently, or ex-demo ones are available pretty reasonably.
some horses seem to love them, some don't. from what's been said on here, you really need to get one of the top fitters out if at all possible.
i think any comfortable girth would be fine tbh, the WOW ones are obv pretty expensive.

One of the horses I ride has a Wow VSD. I LOVE it and so does she, and so does her owner! Apparently Kit moves 100% better in it, and she's only really a happy hacker so I'd love to get one for my new horse when I buy it as I'm sure it'd help my dressage. Kit's saddle also puts me in a perfect position.
As for the girth, I think it helps with Kit as her girth groove is too far forward and the Wow girth stops he saddle getting dragged forwards. Idon't think they're essential though.

We have had one for a short while. My daughter didn't like the fixed block ones as she felt stuck in a position but did like the club and the movable block with no2 seat. She has had to have an H girth as the horse is difficult and nearly every saddle slips on him.
Really take your time deciding.

I've got a WOW saddle but have never really thought it fitted properly. Had it re-fitted again recently and had the fore girth put on which has made saddle more stable. They are now suggesting I have a H girth but I'm not sure cos I am pretty old fashioned and think if a saddle fits correctly any girth should do.
Having said that I think the WOW is a brilliant invention but the fitting is sooooooooo important and David from WOW seems to be the only person who's got the eye and knowledge. That's only my opinion of course!

I would be getting the size 3 extra deep seat with the new knee blocks and slightly longer flap than standard as my hanoverian mare is very deep bodied. We are based in Kent near the WOW factory so Louise came out and have to say I was very impressed with her fitting skills. Loved the fit of the shaped WOW dressage girth but seems a little pricey against other makes!
Think i am going to go for the black leather (not sure how buffalo wears so any comments appreciated) with a nubuck seat and knee rolls for extra stickability

I was planning to try a Bates innova tomorrow but feel that I might be wasting my time

I had a bates caprillli before the wow. Havent seen the innova so cant comment and not sure if it has flair. The flair is better than cair. I bought a girth because with the wow my normal girth slipped forward and cut my horse under her elbow. So if you can try the saddle for a week before you buy you could find out if you needed a girth!

I have the Zig-zag girth.

Hi had a WOW saddle for my first eventer TB/WB thought it was good investment as it could be fitted to 'any horse', by qualified fitter!!!I was wrong!!!Got a new horse ID/TB and had it professionally fitted by WOW and my horse ended up having 3 months off in the middle of the event season with a very very sore back!!!

They maybe ok for just pure dressage but I had one that I had to change the flaps on, and at a show frankly you dont have time and its a pain in the arse!!!

Also the stirrup leathers are a pain too!!!

I like my good old conventional saddles!!!

Good thinking - will see if I can try one of their models for a week and then decide on a girth. As I have a thin skinned chestnut mare who seems to get rubbed at the slightest thing I need to choose carefully

LOL!! I have one of those too!!! If it's any consolation My saddle has not rubbed my mare at all.

She is a pain and a typical chestnut mare but I cant help but love her - we had her in to produce and sell on and guess what... muggins here ended up buying her!!! Thanks for all your advice I feel a bank account bashing coming on

I wouldn't be without my wow saddles now

I had problems with my first fitter and then only David (nice pic of his mug in the H&H this week!!) could fix my problems

Unlike everyone else, my horse needs the opposite of an H girth and the wow allows the girth to slip back without taking the saddle with it.

I still get dry patches, but at least I have more options than with normal saddles!

Gosh that girth looks really wierd! Does the saddle feel central with the girth like that?

My Wow is great for flatwork, unbeatable for dressage but my horse did not find it so good for jumping in.

The saddle is fairly central, the girth is sometimes right under my leg which is quite annoying.

If I get fed up, I put my non-modified wow or another saddle and remind myself why he needs this!

He jumps just fine, been placed everytime he goes out, so I can't grumble! However with the girth wear it is, I have abandoned stud girths... they'd cover his sheath!!!!

Now that looks strange but I suppose the back part of our H girth is about there but it has a forward strap as well.At first he kicked out a couple of times but now he is used to it.One problem is that we have to be careful mounting that we don't move the saddle as we can't straighten it again once on,but that is ok.At least it doesn't slip sideways

My gelding is very deep, and i have mega long legs (36inch inside leg!) but i only needed the standard length flaps which i was surprised by.

Like i said, definately worth the money for me, i love mine. When my mare comes back into work after foaling il be buying her one aswell.

I've just bought one for dressage and so far my horse seems very happy in it. I don't think I would want to mess about changing the flaps etc as that looks quite fiddly.

I'm just using my normal gith at the moment ans it seems fine.
