WOW Saddles?

I wrote this on another post re wows and young horses the other day-

A horse could need several saddles in the first 2 years of its working life. One of mine got through 4 in 12 months. Then i bought him a WOW and have never looked back. I now have 3 for different horses and they have saved me alot of money in the long run. They are also far better for the horse than an old 2nd hand saddle because of the design, pressure absorption, flexibility, etc.

There is alot to them and you need a knowledgeable fitter to get the panel choice right and it set up correctly but if that is correct i think they are fantastic for the horse.

I adjust mine myself, one horse only needs doing 3 times a year but one horse has needed doing at least monthly through the season as he changes alot with work. however this may slow down now hes older. There is no other saddle that you can adjust so accurately on such a regular basis.

There have been some peple on here that have disliked them but in general i think thats because they have had a problem with their fitter. This has given the saddle a bad name to some people, when its actually not the saddle as such. As with any other saddle they need to be fitted properly and it is not a one saddle fits all like people can believe. And as with any other saddle they need to be checked regularly. But at least you can adjust them as the horse changes shape.

From personal experience i would say get a wow, they are worth every penny. BUT they have to be fitted correctly by a knowledgeable fitter. Buying one off ebay is unlikely to be successful!

Absolutely love WOW saddles, Ive never had a single problem with the saddle & have been an owner of WOW saddles for getting on for 4 years now.
You do need a very good fitter though & I have heard nightmare stories when fitted badly.

I tried one last year. Great at first and the horse jumped superbly in it, but then made the horse incredibly sore plus he got large swellings along his spine which were taking several hours to disperse. The Fitter was very unhelpful and wouldn't believe me or my physio that the horse was in pain! As such I would say make sure you get a long trial period atleast 2 weeks before committing and PM me if you want the name of a fitter in SW to avoid...

I have one, do you want to try it? Will be perfect for you as you are my height, only thing is it may be too big for pingy pony, but it is sat here, in a box, and I need to sell it but still procrastinating, so if you want to come and get it for a trial you can have it x

Lovely saddles but you do need a good fitter, as others said.

There are so many combinations avalible that you need the exact one for the horse. You also needs someone up to date to fit it - the company change the design so frequently that a year old saddle is out of date. And buying second hand can therefore be difficult.

A good fitter is necessary with saddles to start with, but most competent people can then adjust them by themselves

I do alter the air as necessary with mine, and my grey will only go in a wow now, any normal flocked saddle and he just humps his back and refuses to move.

Also I am always impressed that they don't pivot on the shoulder and flap (lift up at the back) when jumping- my amerigo swings in the air, which means it must be pivoting and putting acute pressure on the shoulder

Wow (and my big bum) looks like this:

I love mine and the horse who has a very sensitive back has never looked back. Someone on the same yard was tempted by having a putz round on mine but her horse was not so keen. I think as beauchamps said they are probably the marmite of saddles! Thinking about it I love marmite too!

Yep love mine

As others have said the fitter is incredibly important so make sure you chose a good one but I guess thats the same with any saddle really!
