Took Blue to the Maidstone and District Riding Club show yesterday.
Put him in for the Prelim 1 and then the combined training of Prelim 13 with 2ft3-6 SJ.
Met B etc there and was a bit later than i'd realised and Blue looked like he'd just crawled out a swamp
so then had 25mins to get him looking vaguely clean, tack up and warm up before my test (Prelim 1)!
Got on, warmed up for about 15 mins before it was my turn!
Had someone reading for me as i didn't know the test, thought that Blue didn't go THAT well, we broke into canter too early at one point but it could have been a lot worse!
Came out and B said i had done really well, way better than the others which really surprised me!
Went to get my results and discovered that there were 2 results to go up but i had 74% and one person had 73% but everyone else was in the 60's% so was quite ahead!
The two results went up and they were both in the 60's so i was shocked, i had actually won!
Had a bit to wait before my next test, so went and had a look at the SJ course, by this point was raining so was bit worried the grass would be a bit slippery
Got back on for my second test (Prelim 13) and did about 20mins warm up again, had someone reading for me again as i didn't know it, thought he went ok but not as good as he did for the first test
but he was quite soft and nice in both tests, just a bit stiff to the right...
Took him back and untacked, went and walked the SJ course.... fence 1 was a straight which looked ok (all up to height of 2ft 6), 2 looked ok, a little spread, but the turn to 3 was VERY tight. Thought that might be a bit hard, 4 was a skinny jump which worried me a little as we've never done a skinny jump before... 5 was a double, another tight turn to 6, 7,8 and 9 all looked ok though.
Changed Blue's tack and went to warm up, in the rain
went to trot him over the xpole and he jumped it MASSIVE and almost had me off, well i lost my left stirrup
he did this two more times before finally jumping it normally was a bit worried by this point, last time we jumped a course of jumps properly was um almost a year ago! He was very good we were not quite bang on with the striding though and almost missed fence 3 completely as the turn was so tight came to it sideways and jumped it almost from a standstill!
But anyway we went clear which was all that matters!
Went to look at my results after a cup of tea and only the dressage scores were up i was 2nd with 176 and the person in 1st was on 177. Unfortunately for me the person on 177 also went clear so i came 2nd, missed out on 1st place by 1 point!
So 1st and 2nd wasn't bad really i didn't think?
Blue was such a good boy!! Was so pleased with him! Only our third attempt at dressage ever too! Didn't buy any photos as didn't have any money...
