Amy_08 & Mike does, at their new yard... how luck are they :) "you want to see the stable block !!!

Amazing - presumably the building has been converted from something - what was it before?

No - the building was purpose build for Lord Roseberry as apparently he liked to watch his racehorses go around indoors? I think that was the story.

LOL small world at times.... amy is so happy :) i think i said hello to your horse today!!!

Oh wow - are you going to be down there this weekend? We only moved in last Friday.. Do you go hacking much?

Well it's beautiful. It must be lovely to ride somewhere with that sort of history and imagine all the amazing horses who have been there before.

Lord Rosebery?
Was he the chap who buried his horses in their own marked graves??
Can't think what I was doing when I stumbled across this...I'm being nosey-I like historic buildings and think thats what I was doing.
Is it part of an estate?

Must go down and see the yard now its being looked after again. It had gone in to a state of ruin. I think the indoor school is actually a listed building. It's a lovely place to ride your horse in, very serene.

I think so, you can go and visit the graves of the derby winners. May do that this weekend as the bf loves his horse racing history. I believe the property was subdivided. The new YO's have done a wonderful job with restoration and are really lovely people :)

Oh my, that is gorgeous!

Which yard is this? I'm no where near there and couldn't afford it if I was, but I'd love to be nosy and look up the rest of the place if possible!

Its The Durdans at Epsom Downs. Its part and full livery but they also have a grass and diy yard too just up the lane.

Mike007 and I said that there should be some sort of dress code to be able to ride in there!

Missparis I am at the DIY yard there just at the top of the lane. I only moved in Friday too. We must go hacking together!

Its nice to be on a yard where they don't just talk about doing things they are actually getting on with it-it must be costing a small fortune though!

Wow. That's a lot like what I want one of my arenas to look like. (listen to me, ONE of my arenas  would be extremely lucky to even set up my own yard let alone have more than one arena :D)

Very nice story behind this too :)
