Does any one use either of these for their riding?
I am aware that people use them for running /cycling etc but I want to get one to use whilst riding on the Moor.(I do know my way around but in adverse weather etc it would help plus it would be advantageous when exploring new routes)
Any suggestions /recommendations greatly appreciated.

I use a wrist worn Garmin 205 for recording my ride data and to keep an eye on my average speed when I compete at endurance. However it doesn't display OS maps and the memory struggles if you try to import long routes, so I've also just got a new phone which has a built in GPS system. I've downloaded OS maps onto the phone so that I can create routes on my PC, import them onto the phone and then use that to check my route as I go along. The phone GPS is really just as back up to stop me getting lost. The wrist worn one is better for looking at data on the move but only really relevant if you're competing and need to keep up a certain average speed. So if you're not competing I'd probably suggest a handheld GPS that you can download maps onto.

What?!?!?!?! These kind of things exist?! Sounds like my dream as I have absolutely no idea where I'm going when I ride! Where can I get one of these wonderful things?!

Thanks Gedenskis girl for that .
I have been looking at the Garmin range but I really dont want heart rate readings etc (sometimes pumping a bit when I go too close to a bog or warren! but I dont need a reading to tell me that )
I thought about wrist worn as I also have a phone and thought I might not lose it if I wore it However I do want to be able to use my computer re routes and OS map software.

I carry a Garmin strapped to my leg when I hack on Cannock Chase as it is so easy to get lost there. It will spit out a 10 figure OS grid reference so that I could find myself on the map. I also store the location of where the lorry is parked as it will navigate me to it.

I have a Garmin e-trex (I think!) . It's great for hacking as I have bought the software that puts all the features of maps on it - for the UK anyway. It is a handheld one so I wear it round my neck. It gives average speed, total climbed, max speed as well as telling me where I am.

Thanks
I will stick to the Garmin search then and update all when I get one ..so long as I dont get lost on Dartmoor in the meantime!!!
