Hi,
I am in middle of writing a book at the moment called Equestrian Legends - short chapters about some of the most memorable horses and riders from the last hundred years. They are from across the disciplines - racing, sj, dressage, eventing, even literature and film. I'd love to hear people's idea of their own legends from the past and present as my list is certainly not complete yet. It would be very easy to just include my own heroes and heroines from my childhood which would be great fun but might make the book a bit less varied than it should be. In case you are interested, the book has its own fb page where I'm posting up snippets and other bits and pieces of footage / images / info.
It's my first real venture into writing non-fiction and I'd love to hear from any other equestrian writers - I'm sure there are plenty of pitfalls out there!

Roy rogers and Trigger.Certainly legendary and there is a real equestrian story too.Two bit singer meets cinema lot horse and magic happens.

Great idea.. make sure you tell us when its finished!

What about the great show riders and producers? One who springs to mind is Jack Gittens but there are many more.

A small spot for Caroline Bradley, at one time everyone's favourite female SJer who died so young.

Oooh lots of ideas, but like you, too many from 'my' era.

Thanks Mike007 - good idea about Roy Rogers and Trigger. Didn't have them on the list but will add.
Thanks too Ladyinred - most certainly Caroline Bradley! A heroine of mine - I still go to her two books for inspiration. She died so young, didn't she? When we were children, it didn't seem that young but now we are past that age ourselves, it strikes home more. Am saving her til later as I want to interview her sister. It's a great excuse to meet such interesting people.
Has to be finished by September for Christmas market and will certainly come on the forum to mention it then. Would be great if people could go across to the Equestrian Legends - book FB page and share memories!

Thanks for those -love the name MiJods and know that feeling all too well :-( Had all those down, except for Raymond BW - great minds think alike! And clearly of a similar age! Hadn't thought of Bob Champion and Aldaniti, ElleSkywalker. And so obviously should be there. Thank you to you both

Harold and Albert Steptoe and their lovely old cob - Delilah!

Napoleon and Marengo
The Duke of Wellington and Copenhagen
Alexander the Great and Beucephalos (?)
