A girl came to try Spencer today with the idea of sharing him. They got on really well and she has agreed to share him. She will not be paying anything towards his upkeep. is it iworth writing up an agreement for both of us to sign? and if so what kind of things should i include?
I have never had a sharer before but have been a sharer myself but never signed anything, also just a verbal agreement, so not sure what to do.

Does your insurance cover her?

If not she will need to get insurance. Does your insurance cover your horse if someone else is riding Spencer and is injured?

These are things you need to consider including Third Party, incase they damage anyone else's property or cause injury.

Don't mean to sound forboding but you need to get these things sorted before the sharing starts. Don't forget about the shoeing and vets fees?

Agree with Flowerlady, I would check the insurance first.

Also might be worth mentioning if there is anything really important to you - things you would like her to do or not do for example due to his health history. Example - cannot use him for jumping due to old injury

I don't know if you do need one - but it'd do no harm to have one. I'm sharing/loaning in the same situ but don't have a contract. Have shared in the past with a tweaked "BHS thingy" (LOL Smash!) and it was very good but there was money involved.

As CJ says would be good to lay out rules, like need to help with jobs X times a week, can't jump/ go hunting (e.g. if not insured or you don't want him to) and make clear who is responsible for what costs. Good luck tho shares can work out brilliantly
