Is it the wrong time of year for selling horses??

My horse has been up a week now and i have not had one bit of interest which is quite disheartening.

I know its not been long really but i thought i would of had a little bit of interest even if nothing come of it.

No, I think this is a pretty good time of year, I know a few people looking. Where have you advertised?

I have dvertised her on horsemart and quite a few local tack shops and websites etc. I have also let all my horsey contacts know!!

Cant advertise in H&H or Horsequest just yet til i get paid but i have had loads of response from Horsemart in the past so a bit confussed

I think horsequest and H&H will get you the best results. IMO this is the best time of year to sell -coming up to school holidays/summer time......

I sold my small hunter on HQ a few weeks ago within 20 minutes of the ad going up, and did the same in March last year on HQ with the cob. I would definitely recommend HQ over the others.

I think it is the best time of year to sell coming into summer....it's usually winter where people report things being slow. Could there be something in the ad or the photos that is putting people off?

I changed the ad the other day with the help of people on here as i was waffling a bit to much at first

The photos that are up are the best ones i have of her and were taken when she was being professionally schooled so better than i could take but i spose this could be the case.

The only thing that leaps out at my Kelly is the photo of her stood up.

It is not a good confirmation shot at all - and I wouldn't view her based on that photo - even though you have two good ones of her working on the flat and over a jump.

The advert reads well, and the price is a bargin!

Hope this help.

I just had a look at the ad, it's okay but doesn't particularly make her stand out at all.

The main piccie is quite small and not great quality so not particularly eyecatching, might be worth investing a bit of time getting a couple of really good flatwork piccies

The loose jumping one is lovely but I would question why we are seeing a photo of her jump loose when the ad state she is jumping BN/Disco

I really would remove the one of her tied up, it does her no justice whatsoever. If she has developed her topline since that was taken then take some further decent conformation shots

Pricewise I think it is on the high side but not completely unrealistic in today's market, I might however be inclined to drop it to £5950ono

I'd say it's th best time to be selling too....but all the factors in the advert have to add up....pictures, description and most importantly price. I haven't seen the advert so can't help more i'm afraid

I have removed teh confo shot as your right it wasn't very good but the only one i had where she was standing reasonably still.

And i will try and get some more flat work pics this weekend

Thanks

Hi Julie

Yeah i have got that one saved on the computer somewhere but coz i never purchased it from the photographer so i dont think i can use it.

I have put on the ad more photos available on request though

Could you PM me the advert? Is this the mare you thought you would showjump but she didnt have it in her?
Thanks
x

Would agree looking at your ad it is the pics that are causing the prob tbh! The Conformation shot wasnt good, and we all know she is much better looking than that showed her! The Flatwork pic is unfortunately tiny, so cant really see any detail. I quite like the loose jumping one. Changing the ad may see the improvement you are after!

Yeah it is, i think she will event with a bit of work but she is not going to be careful enough for pure SJ and she i bred for dressage so i think this is where her talent lies.

Will PM you the advert

Only a week? Nahh, thats no time! Have you got the horse advertised in as many places as possible? I had one pony for sale all damn winter with no interest (THAT is the bad time to sell!) and then as soon as the weather turned nice in the spring I had calls. He was sold to the first person who came. But I continued to then get about 20 calls for the next 2 weeks after! Could have sold the pony many times over. Always the way though!
