Wrong time to advertise for sharers?

I am desperately looking for a share or loan!

I don't like this weather at all but I figure when I get my own I will have to go see to him/her so why not.

I can see why alot of people won't be wanting to though, at a RS I help at a few of the woman have stopped coming until the weather warms up!

Have sent you a pm :)

am looking to share a 15.3hh- 17.1hh either quality schoolmaster or talented young horse owner would be happy for me to school on for them few times a week in south northants, nrth oxfordshire/west bucks under supervision of instructor

I am looking for a share or part loan! Or even just the opportunity to help someone out so I can get my horse fix. I don't mind this kind of weather, so i definitely think there will be people out there interested!

I advertised for a sharer a short while ago & the only responses I got were from 2 people an hours drive away (despite the area being on the ad), 1 who wanted a full loan at yard of their choice (ad was for 3 day share) or 1 who was happy with 3 day share provided I move the horse to a yard of their choice 20 miles away! Son plans to go travelling next summer so I think I will wait & look for a loaner then.
I was offering Saturday as one of the days, flexible otherwise. No chores necessary, could just ride if they wanted for £20 pw. Happy for horse to go to comps/lessons etc. Horse loves to jump & is a stunner. Pics on the ad of him jumping etc., but no sensible interest.

I advertised in August for help riding mine & was inundated with interest.....advertised again last week for someone to ride my 15hh Arab, as much riding as they wanted & i didnt want anything towards his keep, so free riding, not had any interest at all apart from 1 girl who was miles away & didnt drive. Going to have his shoes knocked off now & not bother till Feb/March time now.

I started my loan about 3 weeks ago! I was talking to another girl about how we had probably started at the worst possible time!! But we're both really enjoying it! I found mine on a local horsey FB group! There will definitely be people out there, it's just waiting and hoping that the right kind comes along! I'm definitely not a fair weather sharer that's for sure! X

Some people might be keener at the moment as they have time off over Christmas and New Year.

Is a better time to find a genuine person than in May when they might quit in the winter.

Am hoping to find a sharer in March if I have two in work.

cold- check, dark-check, christmas looming-check.

I ride for someone else in the week but if I wasn't doing that already I certainly wouldn't be looking!

I've had replies from people asking to buy (why don't they read the ad!) or very young children who's mum has obviously let play with the computer.
I'm concerned that if I don't find someone by end of January I will have to start looking at some type of full livery.

I'm planning on looking for someone after Christmas, with the hope that by April I may have had some luck! Christmas gets in the way, I find, and is very distracting.

Same in Northants. Advertised free riding on my mare during the week. Get replies, potential sharers seem really interested then go quiet when I invite them to try her. Think is combination of weather and proximity to Christmas.

I started a lot of shares during winter so I'm sure they're out there :) You probably haven't got many responses as most fair weather riders will be tucked up at home! Try word of mouth and local tack shops as well as free websites like preloved as a lot of people look there. I think the problem with shares is where you're based and the types of riders who would be suited to your horse. It could be perfect but the potential sharer lives too far. Keep trying and good luck!

Well I can't find anyone to share my mare either! When I say share, it would just be them riding her, they could come to shows with me etc, whatever. No chores.... Excellent hack, bombproof but fun; she's only 14.1 but not a single reply...!

Where in Kent? I'm carless but close to Kent borders in S E London and have been looking for a new share since October :(

Its slow.

I advertised my two ISH at the height of summer, no charge, no limit to days, plenty of weekends, chance to do pc/rc and local shows on horses that have done BE/Bs.. I got a few replies at first that dithered about where we were and if they'd be able to ride enough for their liking due to us not having a floodlit arena etc. Then two nice ladies got in touch, and are great. The ad is still sitting on the site, as one sharer can't ride very often so there is chance for someone else really, and I get the odd person peck at it now and again.

I have given up - didnt get far when he was in full work... Now in walk work and just after someone to help ie no financial commitment as isn't innfull work - but there are too many shares and not enough sharers so may try again when in full work

I put an ad up for my TB 2 weeks ago, had lots of interest from young girls and although I know there are good young riders about I didn't want a sharer who had to rely on parents for lifts to the yard. Had a response from a parent who asked if she could leave her 13yr old daughter at the yard unsupervised!!!!

Anyway the first sensible response I had came to try him out last Saturday and starts sharing him this week, so there are people looking. Still get emails responding to advert and I could have a second sharer as currently not riding myself post baby- so am keeping options open

I actually had someone message me last night, but she never got back to me after my reponse.

Adverts are on FB, on local advertisment sites, in local tack shops etc.

agh!
