Has anybody tried the WTP bits with extended plate for a horse who insists on getting his tongue over bit? Reviews needed, good or bad. Thankyou

If it was me (and I always say this), I would get a bit specialist out to assess your horse and then you can try out several bits over an hour or so. It is not only cheaper in the long run but you will have a happy horse who goes well too. I have used Horse Bit Fit but there are others.

I have done this previously and end up back at the same place but with another bit to add to the collection!

I bought one on a trial period but never used it and sent it back in the end.
My horse used to get his tongue over and head toss (still does this a bit) but I found changing to a Micklem and a Bomber happy tongue actually helped so didn’t use the bit in the end. He’s now in a single joined hollow mouth snaffle which he goes very well in - surprisingly.

Thankyou. He's currently in a narrow tongue Bomber happy tongue but when anxious still gets his tongue over, not ideal when cantering!

Try dropping the bit a hole or two. I know it sounds completely counter intuitive, but I was told to do it by an instructor once and the horse stopped putting his tongue over the bit immediately.

^^^ what ycbm says worked for mine. Also changed to NS turtle top and never had a problem since

I trialled a WTP on the pony with a palate problem. very chunky. She hated it so it was returned.
