Can anyone recommend a wug type rug? As in one with a half neck. I have a couple of old half neck rugs which need replacing as they are 10+ years old and worn out however no one seems to make them anymore!

The only ones I can find are the Rambo ones and they're not within my budget. I don't want a full neck rug as my horse doesn't need one and she has a very long neck so they generally don't fit well. I usually use a half neck if the weather is very wet and cold as I find it keeps the rain out the front of the rug better than a normal neck.

What about rhinos? Horseware, so same make as rambos, but not as expensive. I have a couple which are still going strong 12+ years down the line! Or look out for any 2nd hand rambos, all mine are 2nd hand :)

And no, despite my name I have no associations with them :D

I bought this rug recently.

It's my first Masta turnout and I was a bit sceptical as it's only 600d. However I needed a rug for my two year old quickly and it was in the sale, so I took a chance and I'm actually very pleased with it. It kept him warm and dry in all that awful rain we had recently (plus it was -5*C at night). :)

The rug that it was replacing was a Rhino Wug, which is a very, very nice rug, but the naughty grey decided to kill it. :( :( :(

I have just ordered one of these from ebay - it was £95! Not tried it yet though so can't comment on its effectiveness. ;)

I have a derby house one, which is fab, Im not normally a fan of cheaper types, but as poster above i needed something quickly for a youngster, and 2nd hand rugs on ebay were going for mad money! It seems very tough and has survived a rug thug!

Wugs are wunderful! My two are well into their teens and I love them! Secondhand if you can find them in one piece and not too silly a price. Don't really know of other half necks, but anything by Rhino is worth a look.
